Amazing swarms of non-native Bitterlings in Burwell & Wicken Lodes. Maybe the most numerous fish. One was trailing something v long - not poop, but not sure what? Certainly mussels available for them to breed in.

Least often seen fish today in Burwell Lode & Wicken Lode were Silver? & Common Bream.

The only Pike photographed was a dead one - victim of vegetation cutter (too much valour on the part of the Pike?)?

The only day we have ever tried to snorkel Wicken Lode is the only day in the year when @EnvAgencyAnglia is busy cutting its vegetation! Was looking forward to gin clear; got soup brown...

But still Wicken Lode was beautiful - including autumn rosehips on Monk's Lode. More of an otter's eye view of Wicken Fen than usual...

On Wicken Lode & Burwell Lode, where the @EnvAgency vegetation cutter hadn't yet reached, there were White & Yellow Water-lilies & Amphibious Bistort. To be fair, without the cutting, swimming through the vegetation would have been v hard work.

Masses of Roach and also lots of Rudd in Burwell Lode & Wicken Lode today. Only saw one really big fish - more than a foot... maybe a Carp (no photo)?
