THREAD:

Do we like wearing a mask? No, we hate it. Makes our throats dry and it's uncomfortable plus it's not the nicest after eating a packet of Tayto. But we wear it to make sure we're not putting our loved ones, our friends, other people and ourselves at risk. 1/11
Do we like having to wash our hands so many times a day? Do we like sanitising our hands so much that if we get pulled over by the guards they'll think we've been on the lash? No but we do both to make sure we're not putting family, friends, others and ourselves at risk. 2/11
Do we like not going to a good knees up in a friend's house? No, it's awful. We haven't seen a lot of our friends in months and it seems like forever since we were all together. But we do it to so that we're not putting family, friends, other people and ourselves at risk. 3/11
But these are all minor inconveniences in the greater scheme of things. I'd say we all hate it more that we can't go see The Dubs in Croker or anywhere for that matter or the fact that we can't even go see a club game in Parnell Park. 4/11
I'd say we all hate it more that we haven't hugged parents, family members and friends in months. I'd say we all hate it more when we see friends, family and neighbours struggling to survive after losing their jobs. I'd say we all hate it more when we see elderly parents,

relatives and friends struggling with the loneliness of it all and those who were already struggling with their mental health finding it so difficult to adjust to this 'new normal.' We probably all agree that we don't like wearing a mask, washing and sanitising our hands

umpteen times a day, keeping our distance when we're out and about and not having a good sing song and craic in the house with a gang of friends. Of course we don't, who would? Bit the longer some of us do what's recommended and some of us don't then the longer we'll be in,

what feels like, a never ending shit show that this virus has sprung upon us. Call us sheep if you want. Tell us that we're pushing government propaganda 🙄 But many of us want to go to games, see friends that we haven't seen and hug people that we haven't hugged in so long. 8/11
Whether we agree with what's recommended is irrelevant. For the sake of us all can we cut all the fighting and arguing and come together to get out of this mess. You don't have to like the government or anyone in charge. I think we all just want and need some normality back. 9/11
The fact remains that cases are rising sharply and the longer that continues then the longer we'll be stuck in this mess. For the sake of us all please wash your hands, wear a mask when required, keep your distance and stay away from house parties. 10/11
The sooner that we all do our bit, the sooner we'll hopefully be all back to some sort of normality. I'll probably get lashed for posting this by some but I'm tired, fed up and concerned about the health and well being of my friends, family and all us Dubs and Irish people. 11/11
