I feel like people get this idea that being a Partner means you've made it, so I'mma stick my neck out really fast.
Hi, I'm PleasantlyTwstd. I am, in fact, a Partnered streamer!
here's the thing though: I did not 'make it', and I have several questions for folx while also illustrating some points.

some of you probably were following me when I've heavily criticized Twitch's Partnership program reqs, and how they handle 'maintaining' Partnership.
That energy has not changed.
That energy has not changed.
but now, since some of y'all still follow post checkmark, I want to know:
What constitutes 'making it?'
I ask because these last 5 days or so have been littered with that reply: 'y'all made it so y'all don't need help'-what does this mean?

I'm Partnered, but my CCV is below 100, and above 75.
I'm not comfortable exposing my EXACT sub count, but it's not some assumed like, 500, 1000, or whatever.
I'm still technically classified as a 'small streamer.'

Before we go further, I want to know as well: have y'all done the math on this so-called 'making it' tangent?
Do y'all think I have a full time job and work freelance by trade because I'm bored, or.......?
Do y'all think I have a full time job and work freelance by trade because I'm bored, or.......?
So, many moons ago, I did do the math.
If I wanted to make $60K annually on Twitch, I would need to clock 2,000 subs *monthly* to do so.
2,000 subs, at $5/ea, after Twitch cut = $5K/mo = $60K/annually.

And note: I did tier 1 subs.
So this ain't some Partner exclusive, magical deal: this is accessible to anyone making coins on Twitch.
Any.
One.

So, for everyone who likes to fix their hands on their keyboard and say 'y'all made it you don't need help':
Do you GENUINELY believe that I have 2,000 subs?
Despite having a CCV of under 100?
Do you think that's a real thing?

Do you think that's a real thing?
And I use this figure because, again, I don't know what y'all constitute as 'making it'.
Which is a problem in and of itself.
Which is a problem in and of itself.
Here's the thing: I DO think I've made it.
I have everything I wanted: a community that works to learn, grow, and be better every day. People who enjoy my content for me. A job that treats me well. RECURRING FREELANCE CLIENTS OMFG.
That last one hits different.

That last one hits different.
But take note: my wants, my 'making it' isn't "I want Twitch to be my absolute 100% full time gig." I'm not delusional: I know what my content is and I have no mind in thinking that One Day⢠I'mma be pulling Ninja numbers.
As a black, queer woman playing RPGs and DS3? nah.

I'm absolutely still in that boat where my Twitch payouts are enough to cover bills.
Dassit.
Twitch is not paying my rent. Twitch is not buying my mic. Twitch ain't even swooped me a new (desperately needed chair). So how am I and others 'making it' in y'alls minds?

Y'all need to get over this crusty ass hump that Partnership = top tier, legendary streaming, mountains of money and follows flying at you.
That's not what it means and it isn't my problem that your perception is drastically skewed.

But also?
Y'all are gonna get enough of downplaying people who YOU DON'T THINK should be Partnered streamers/get recognotion.
I started just the same as everyone else: unfounded, no mic, no cam, playing Darkest Dungeon POORLY. My 12 CCV days are not 'long gone.'

and I want y'all to know too: when you make these loud and ENTITLED ass takes, you're hurting other streamers around you.
You make it clear that you view this as a competition, and fuck whoever it is you need to walk on to get to The Topâ˘. Again: we are ALL working hard.

So what do y'all mean by 'making it?'
The point I'm making here is that the phrase is 100% subjective: person A's goals are not the same as person B's, even if they share similarities.
What I deem success is not the same as Shroud, *obviously*. So am I automatically wrong?

Does my viewpoint need updating? Should I not be streaming if I don't want to make $100K a year on streaming alone? (which is 3,000+ subs) Am I a failure now?
Or is this where some of y'all start conceding that you're just salty and upset you didn't get picked for something despite wanting to put in the ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM for work?
And that something is ANYTHING.
And that something is ANYTHING.
Which is the last thing I want to throw out there: when you slide through on some 'you already made it' nonsense, I want you to remember it. Very, very clearly.
So that when you do make it to the next level, and you magically start catching hate and vitriol for working your ass off and it goes unrecognized because 'fuck you, scoot over because I want a turn':
you remember you subscribed to that tiring ass rhetoric, too.

and yea, it's gonna suck when it happens to you, and it sure as shit sucks now.
