1. Pregnant & lactating people are often excluded from clinical trial and vaccine research. But that's starting to change. People in this space are actively updating ethical frameworks so providers will not be flying blind in treating pregnant folks.
2. Perinatal health researchers are scrappy & resourceful. Despite limited funding for #COVID19 and pediatric and perinatal populations, so many research teams are scraping together informative research studies. Researchers really care.
3. There is room to grow with respect to social determinants of ethnoracial disparities wrt #COVID19. But there is palpably increasing energy for this area. That's encouraging. But more work to go.
4. Compassionate use approval for unproven therapies makes it harder to study those therapies in a rigorous way. (not limited to pregnant populations)
5. Observational research is going to be needed. And people like using new study designs (like Facebook recruiting) and modes of engagement (building community versus recruiting patients) to develop their cohorts.
