BREAKING: During May 30 & 31 riots in downtown #Raleigh, @raleighpolice used 252 deployments of CS gas, 257 foam bullets and several other deterrents, including smoke and flash bangs, to control the crowd.
Chief says a "communication mishap" led to protesters being gassed on Morgan Street on May 31. Chief says officers heard ambulance was dispatched to area, but EMS had been rerouted.

"It is believed that this deployment of gas created a more agitated crowd that night." #wral
Chief writes, "Access to munitions did allow for crowd management in many situations that would have proven to
be detrimental to our officers and our city even more so."
It cost about $12,000 for all munitions used by @raleighpolice on May 30 and 31. That includes tear gas, foam bullets, pepper spray, flash bangs, and smoke. #wral
During May riots, chief says there were 153 burglaries, 71 property damage reports and 6 arsons (chief says there were many more fires but didn't meet threshold for arson).

$1,437,381 is the total cost of the riots, including @raleighpolice officer salaries, overtime, vehicle repairs and other supplies. #wral

Between May 30 and June 1, 14 officers submitted official reports of injury.
