(1/5) Here's the sequence of events so far: On August 7, a wedding was held in Millinocket. Approximately 65 people attended. It was indoors. There wasn't much mask compliance. It has now become a COVID-19 super-spreading event, the biggest so far in Maine.
(2/5) One adult wedding guest saw a parent some time after the event. That parent then saw another child, an adult who works at the Maplecrest Rehabilitation Center in Madison. @MEPublicHealth believes that's how the Millinocket wedding outbreak spread to the nursing home.
(3/5) As of Tuesday, six residents of of Maplecrest have died and that number could go up. In all, there have been 39 cases between residents and staff at the nursing home.
(4/5) The Aug. 7 wedding also has been linked to an outbreak of more than 70 cases at the York County Jail. A staff member at the jail was confirmed to have attended the wedding. York County is now the biggest COVID-19 hot-spot in Maine and has public health officials worried.
(5/5) Another outbreak in York County is at the Calvary Baptist Church, whose pastor, Todd Bell, officiated the Millinocket wedding and has openly defied the state's guidelines on masks and physical distancing.
