The Mendez vs. Westminster lawsuit (filed in 1945) to desegregate Cali schools. They won in 1946.
The school district appealed, though. & several orgs joined the Mendez family in support

One of those orgs was the NAACP, w/ Thurgood Marshall writing the amicus brief.
So the appeals court upheld the decision in favor of the Mendez family, and Gov. Earl Warren then moved to desegregate public schools/spaces in Cali.

Fast forward and, Thurgood Marshall then used the same arguments from that amicus brief for Mendez v. Westminster to argue Brown v. Board of Education to the SCOTUS...which, by this time, was led by Chief Justice Earl Warren...
