It's all so predictable.
That's one of the most frustrating part of being in these conversations.
Being able to predict it all before it happens.
People never surprise you when you understand people, and understand the perspectives of the different factions.

You're all being played. Wokes, cyns, you're all blind to your own predictability.
And the natural counter to this, that too many people also fall into if they realize this, is conspiracy theories.

It's easy to see the apparently organized effects and envision the man behind the curtain.
And that means you still don't understand yourself, you don't understand humans.
The reality is, as much as some groups may attempt to manipulate, we manipulate ourselves, CONSTANTLY.

And yes, I am currently referencing the drama around @jk_rowling's new book.
However, the reality is, I could take almost any of the plethora of dramas that happen constantly, change a tiny bit, and everything I say will apply nicely.
Humans. Are. Predictable.

So, lets start off! Nice long preamble finally out of the way.
Lets break down this drama a bit, and please try to read this with an open mind, both towards the perspectives of the "others", and also towards what you can learn about yourself.

Let me start off with a bit about the trans community.
Trauma is VERY prevalent. Many of us have been abused, assaulted, discriminated against, treated as less than human, deviants, abominations.

And even for those who were lucky enough to grow up in fairly accepting circumstances, we are far too acutely aware of how easily things can go back to being hell again.
Try being involved in a community where you are constantly, daily, hearing stories of the worst experiences.
Try being involved in a community where you are constantly, daily, hearing stories of the worst experiences.
This is your "tribe", the people who are "like you". Even if you have not experienced it, which is rare, you internalize that trauma.
We constantly hear the worst stories, and with social media, we also get to hear all the worst from ALL over the world.

There is no sense of location with online interactions. Everything naturally feels like it's right next door.
It is very natural to be traumatized by the trauma of others we can relate to. It is very human, and this leads to a tendency to catastrophize
Everything is dangerous

And there is another effect at play, which I describe in more detail in the attached thread, what "Allies" do.
Once again, none of this is organized or planned, merely the natural result of many human being human, and some who play to their own interests https://twitter.com/SyreyneTalks/status/1271059256733626368

Understanding this, is actually one of the reasons I tend to be too forgiving to both trans people, and GC/RF.
THIS EXACT EFFECT HAPPENS ON ALL SIDES.
We are all human. We all react similarly when fed similar information.
No-one is immune.

In this attached thread, I go into more detail on how this particular incident can be expected to have exactly the effect it currently is having that causes the trans side to react as they currently are. https://twitter.com/SyreyneTalks/status/1305733031987011584
Now, to clarify, I have not read the book, and I wont.
I understand my traumas and triggers fairly well. Part of my self-care is to not intentionally expose myself to content about reality based violence.

But I would expect that this article is closer to the truth.
It simply seems like a far more reasonable expectation, and I somewhat doubt JKR is someone who wouldn't be aware of how this would be received and portrayed and to be sensitive around it. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/j-k-rowling-s-latest-novel-isn-t-transphobic-

Now take into account what I explained previously, and I do hope you took the time to read the attached materials...
All of the previously discussed factors have a quite simple effect.
We are a VERY easily manipulatable group of people.

Trauma and fear make for a very good leash and collar.
And it's not like people are unaware of how easy it is to jerk that leash, and have a general idea of how the majority will react.
This again, does not take some "man behind the curtain".

All it takes, is one petty little person putting out an intentionally inflammatory article, with a lovely little click bait headline.
They all know that drama gains them attention, and in media, attention and drama equates to MONEY.
They all know that drama gains them attention, and in media, attention and drama equates to MONEY.
Add in many other petty opportunists all going along, scrambling to snag their own piece of that sweet money pie, and you end up with a deluge of sensational clickbait.
The ensuing outrage is literally inevitable.
There will always be those opportunists.
The ensuing outrage is literally inevitable.
There will always be those opportunists.
Even I, with understanding my traumas and triggers, still felt that kneejerk gut clenching initial reaction to seeing those headlines.
It's a deep instinctive trauma reaction. I just am able to recognize it as such and step back a bit to think first.
(Most of the time...)

And along with the predictable reaction, comes the predictable counter-reaction.
Two traumatized communities, at each other's throats.
And there are plenty of people on each side quite happy to unleash their rage on the "others", triggering it all to escalate continually.

What lovely bang-for-their-buck for the opportunists who only had to strike one little match.
And the more it escalates, the more that opportunists on each side get to cash in.
The people profiting off this have NO reason to be reasonable and calm it down.
And the more it escalates, the more that opportunists on each side get to cash in.

Quite the contrary, dramas like these are job security. They get to put out inflammatory biased takes and opinions, and cash in for as long as it can be dragged out for.
And this is what the conspiracy theorists see. They see the result, and it looks so very well organized.
And this is what the conspiracy theorists see. They see the result, and it looks so very well organized.
But in reality, it is just the cumulative effect of all these little humans, traumatized, reactionary, opportunistic... predictable.
How do we stop this? Can we prevent humans from being human? Can we prevent trauma, instinctive reactions, predatory opportunism?

Can we stop humans from being human?
Unlikely.
I think the best we can do is to recognize how well we play ourselves, and let ourselves be played, and try to remember to step back, take 10, think about it, and calm down.
Only when we have calmed, can we help calm others.
Unlikely.

Well, maxed out the allowed multi-tweets on that one!
I hope you can all appreciate the perspective.
Sorry I have not been responding to the many comments I have gotten recently, I am sick at the moment and rather lacking in energy to engage.
I will do so as soon as I can!
