She believes that conversations around equality, sexism & feminism need to open up & become all-inclusive, so that things that are read about in textbooks & often ignored in homes change right from the root of the cause.

(2/8)
In her recent Instagram post, she spoke about her personal experiences with casual sexism and patriarchy such as being asked to look after and serve her husband, actor Ayushmann Khurrana by a distant male relative.

She also spoke about how men and women in the same job profile are perceived differently and being told by an architect while discussing plans for their new house that & #39;Khurrana bahus would want an exclusive space to cook& #39; - she clapped back in all 3 instances.

(4/8)
She noted that immediate offence was taken. However, women everywhere are not expected to take offence at the vile abuse & rape threats that are routinely directed at them.

Tahira& #39;s post brings to light the fact that it’s the small & seemingly harmless instances of everyday sexism and double standards that are also working to maintain & normalize inequality between men & women and are a threat to women& #39;s safety everywhere.

The more these behavioral patterns are exposed or called out, the less people will get away with harassing women or actually think about harassing them in the first place.

Pulling someone up on their casual sexism is the first step to creating lasting change regarding the way we talk about men & women, and create a safer world for women everywhere.
