the antidote to QAnon isn't (just) better information

remember, they think they are GETTING BETTER INFORMATION

the antidote is training people to recognize garbage narrative tropes—hero/villain, apocalypse—and to be reflexively skeptical of their accuracy

of course, that will mean throwing out some of your own (and my own!) cherished narratives, the heroes and villains who structure our reality

uh uh

and sure, yes, sometimes there ARE existential threats, and yes, Hitler, but even in those cases the story is probably more complicated / different than the one we are likely to believe (take it from Hannah Arendt on the banality of evil)
