Going to share some of what we’ve been listening to for the past couple of days
Lmao completely forgot to do this. Let’s go
Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and his Londoner Fuji Exponents - Fuji Reggae Series 2. Released in 1979, this album is truly spectacular. You can find the full album on the official YouTube for @AyindeBarrister
Sunny Ade and his African Beats - Sunny Ade Vol. 1 (E Kilo F’Omo Ode). Released in 1974, this is one of the most important albums in Nigerian history. Full album can be found on our YouTube channel but also on all streaming sites
K1 De Ultimate - Nigeria the New Era. Released in 1999, the video for this one is on YouTube. Alhaji really did his thing on this record. This was the modern sounding Fuji for 1999
Someone we know used to reenact everything from this video. Not saying it’s anyone that’s tweeting this but also not saying it’s not. This is a clip of course from Sir Shina Peters 1992 album, Experience.
Forgot to add this one yesterday. Released in 1990, this classic from Alhaja Queen Salawa Abeni called Candle is one that will definitely have you dancing! If you remember the side B of Fuji Ropopo, you will understand why this album is called Candle.
