Part of the failure of mainline Protestants to reach younger generations is the failure to recognize young people today (particularly millennials) as an oppressed generation. 1/5

Economic inequality has strangled most of a generation. Boomer and older leaders of the Church need to seek liberation by giving up their own economic privilege 2/5

and committing to deconstructing the political systems that have a generation of Americans trapped in their parent’s basement under a mountain of student debt 3/5

White Mainline Protestants need to seek this liberation for their own children! This same economic oppression falls five fold on BIPOC and women. And nobody wants to sit in church next to their oppressors. 4/5

Economic justice leads to liberation. Liberation leads to salvation. Salvation leads to worship. Stop asking young people to do that pattern backwards. 5/5
