*THREAD POST*
Sex worker pride day is today, & it really hits hard because I’ve dealt with a lot of stigma from those close to me regarding my choice to participate in this line of work. *Emphasis on choice! (Continued below)
As most of you know, I had a career before sex work & made the decision to leave so that I could work towards being truly happy. It was the best decision I ever made.
I sincerely enjoy being a sex worker, but have paid for it dearly in terms of some of my close relationships outside of the industry. I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again,”I will never regret my decision to be a sex worker.” It changed my life so much for the better.
I get so much gratification through educating others & helping people have a better understanding of themselves, & a healthier relationship with their sexuality. I can’t tell you the number of letters I’ve received that almost brought me to tears because of how I’ve been able to
help others through sex work. The personal relationships I’ve built through my work have been truly amazing and unique. So today, don’t forget to thank a sw for the public service we provide, and let’s all work to end the social stigma surrounding this truly wonderful work we do.
We need to educate and inform those who don’t understand our industry- this is the only way to bring about positive change. Trust me it’s not at all easy, but it’s worth it when people are able to finally be inclusive.
I’ll end this post with a quote,”Acceptance makes an incredible fertile soil for the seeds of change.”- Steve Maraboli
