Thread: How would Thomas Partey transform Arsenal
Before we start, all stats used are per 90 minutes (P90) in all games from CL and players leagues.
Thomas Partey looks to be very likely to join the PL for next season. One clubs look to secure him if he does leave, them being Arsenal. We will look at what Thomas Partey would bring to Arsenal
Attributes Partey possesses and needs improving:
One thing everyone know Partey for is his amazing dribbling. He averages 2.1 dribbles P90 with a fantastic success rate of 86.96%. Let’s compare this to one of, if not the best dribbler in the PL, Kovacic.
Kovacic averages 2.8 dribbles P90 which is incredible but a slightly lower success rate with 85.96%. Very impressive for Partey to be up there with a player of Kovacic when it comes to dribbling. The way he seamlessly carries the ball forward for a big guy is exceptional.
Here’s an example to see where he ranks with other top midfielders. Now we got the fact he is an world class dribbler out the way let’s move on.
Partey is a player who is very positive with the ball always looking for the forward passes. Not only that but he is a remarkable decision maker in tight areas of the field. An attribute that will be key if he is to succeed in the PL.
This is shown as he ONLY loses the ball (dispossessed or poor touch) 1.8 times P90. That is the same as a player like Kimmich and 0.6 times less than Busquests. His awareness is clearly one of the best in the world for a midfielder.
Partey also has an ability which isn’t talked about enough. That would be his phenomenal vision. When in possession, Partey plays as a deep line playmaker feeding balls to Lodi or Tripper as they make runs out wide. Pushing Athletico up the pitch quite a lot. Very useful!
As well as his long ball playing ability he thrives at breaking the line and when their is a run made by a player he will pretty much always find them. Another key attribute is his physicality. This is the main reason he is so good at shielding the ball off players
Defensively, a very very solid player. Partey averages 3.9 tackles and interceptions P90. Compare this to defensive powerhouse Casemiro’s 4.8 P90 and Kimmich’s 2.6 P90 and you can see Partey is in very good company.
Partey is a top linkup man in midfield as well. Mastering the quick 1, 2s with Saul. As their is so so many good things about Partey that’s all I can fit in this thread. Now let’s look at the improvements.
Partey is quite error prone at times as well as being rash with his passing. He tends to force passes when it isn’t on. He also losses possession in dangerous areas putting pressure on the defence.
Lastly but this is me being extremely picky but Partey hurries into challenges after losing possessions which leads to needless yellows. Take note that this is me being very harsh to his quite flawless season.
A look at how Partey compares to other player (with graphs):
This is more for a visional representation of how good Partey is.

Top player compared to Partey:
As you can see from this graph, he’d easily be Arsenal’s best midfielder.
