1988 - one of the thousands of actors doing a small role in some film (Biwi Ho To Aisi) whom no one notices. Not launched like Sunny, Jackie, Hrithik etc to zoom into the top 100 stars list with a blockckbuster debut.

1989 - in an unprecdented case, from amongst the thousands of smalltime actors Salman entered the top 50 stars of Bollywood history by virtue of an ATBB-HGOTD in the second year of his career.  (Not possible to give the list of all 50 here).

1990 - Baaghi may have helped him move up one or two places edging out 1-2 film wonders like Kumar Gaurav. 
1991 - Saajan & Sanam bewafa made it 4 consecutive hits for Salman. Cutting the clutter of stars with a few hits like Biswajeet, Firoze Khan etc. he moved into the top 40

1992 - 1993 was stagnant

1994 - with HAHK, his second ATBB- HGOTD he cut past 20 actors in a jiffy. He was in top 20 stars ever of Bollywood history. The stars he edged past included the likes of Pradip Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna, Sanjay Dutt.

1995 - 1997 Moved up one or two spots each year with Karan Arjun. Jeet and Judwa. By 1997 he was amongst the top 15 stars of Bollywood history. Rishi kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Surendranath, Mithun Chakravarty, etc all got left behind.

1998 - with 3 hits, though one was an extended special appearence, he moved into the top 10 with Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Bandhan and Kuchh Kuchh Hota hai.  The stars he overtook included Sunny Deol, Shammi Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna.

2007 - with Om Shanti Om and Chak De Shah Rukh gained one spot while Salman was stagnant. For the first time, though only for a brief period of 3 years, SRK, a contemporary of Salman, moved ahead of him in the list which read as below

2016 - Salman delivered Mega Blockbuster Sultan but it cant help Salman to beat Legendary Amitabh Bachchan excellent record of giving Mega Grossers and the whirlwind period from 1978-1983. So it's status quo.

2017 - Salman khan delivered Mega Grosser in the form of Tiger Zinda hai. First time in the history any star Leveled his performance to Legendary star Amitabh Bachchan. They both are at No.1 of all time. Salman khan just need 1 Big Blockbuster to overcome Amitabh.
