I need everyone to experience a meat eating spree in the Eastern Cape. You will either be disgusted or you will be converted.
For my grandmother& #39;s funeral we slaughtered 22 sheep and a cow. The smell of meat clung on the curtains for days.
My grandmother died at 99, she was the matriarch of our family and the village, she had been a mid wife. A lot of the sheep were donated towards the funeral and generally it is uncustomary to keep anything intended for a funeral it must be eaten.
There is the meat on people& #39;s plates. Then there& #39;s just random meat in served to guests post food. Like dessert but it& #39;s just meat. If there is some left over, people can take as umphako but funeral meat as umphako is discouraged. Mostly its eaten.
