mdzs atla au: the lan family are a long line of skilled and talented airbenders and whilst lxc follows in their footsteps and inherits airbending from their father, lwj inherits waterbending from his mother; so his skillset becomes a neat mix of air and waterbending techniques

it sets him apart so nicely from the rest of the lan clan and whilst he still learns their teachings and takes their guidance, ultimately he almost completely differs in his spiritual connections

twin jades fighting styles incorporating movements that allow them to work seamlessly together with elegance and power unlike anything anyone has seen before

wwx a passionate firebender not because of red/black theme but literally because it takes a great amount of skill and wilfulness to master to its full potential; he would unlock things that people hadn't even thought of yet and they would hate him for it

wwx also the avatar in this au did i mention that? i think it would be fun for him to have to learn patience and spirituality from the twin jades in order to master water and air

nie sect earthbenders, but i think it would be fun for nhs to turn out to be an airbender; he spends so long thinking he is a nonbender but as it turns out he just wasn't looking in the right places to find what he needed to set it free

also incorporating the fan into his techniques i think would be very cool.... he could be so powerful....

jiang cheng here is a skilled nonbender (like suki) because i think the parallel of wwx literally having it all and jc having nothing would set madam yu (also a firebender, see: zidian as lightning bending) off. at first jc is jealous, obviously, but in time he learns

it isn't important and though wwx is the avatar, he's his brother and the scrawny little kid he played in the lakes with, before anything else

wen sect fire benders. wen chao is a nonbender but wen zhuliu is a waterbender who has perfected the art of bloodbending (see: being able to take away people's bending)

jin sect you get a mix (thanks jin guangshan) but i think primarily they would have been water/earth, mix in a little fire with qin su and xue yang, give zixuan earth and then i think meng yao could also have water. mo xuanyu.... you get air too

as for the kids i think sizhui would get fire from his family, jin ling would inherit water from his mother, jingyi is obviously air because his personality clashes so well with what the lan sect would deem proper, and ouyang zizhen would be earth... the fantastic four !!

oh, yanli is a waterbender (like their father. see: lakes. i just thought it was nice to have that), mianmian is another skilled nonbender who hides weapons in her clothes and can take you out in 0.2 seconds if you cross her and wen qing, fire.... women!!!

wen ning differs and has earth because i love him and think it best suits him

the wen soldiers burning cloud recesses..... oh sweet tragedy..... so many jiang disciples being skilled waterbenders and madam yu's army of fire/earth bending women.... sigh.... the lan clan and their unwillingness to get involved in the matter that lwj just doesn't have
