I know a million people have made this comparison about #cuties but I feel like it could be phrased better so the defenders understand.
Imagine a film about the struggles of growing up trans. Perhaps a trans adult in the family is killed. Whereas ethical movies would imply this, #cuties would film the murder of a real trans woman to "show you how bad it is".
While yes, viewing a real person dying is disturbing and the directors could really make you think, the issue is that a real human being lost their life for this to happen.
No matter the narrative of the movie and no matter how good the message is, somebody was still actually slaughtered to get the message across.
In #cuties, the message of the movie isn't "pedo good", it's to show how underaged girls can lead themselves down dark paths to contrast from strict family and the like.
The problem is that in order to convey the disturbing nature of children getting sexualized, they show real children being sexualized.
Real children were asked by adults to twerk, flash, wear tight clothes, and this was recorded and uploaded to the internet. Real kids were exploited sexually in order to obtain the footage.
This is why I and many others have a problem. The context of the situation is irrelevant if you're producing real cp.
