Brighton surprised Lampard and #CFC with a 3-5-2 formation. 3- back is generally a very difficult formation to beat tactically and there were no surprises to why Chelsea were only limited to a 48%, a rare situation for Frank’s side.
Chelsea started the game in a 4-4-2 (4-2-2-2) formation. Kai Havertz and Mount were tasked to stick deep and help counter the threat Brighton’s wing backs provided.
Loftus Cheek was deployed in an SS ( Supporting Striker) role with Timo Werner as the ST. Chelsea were left with Jorginho and Kante in midfield and we’re hence outnumbered and slightly outclassed.
#CFC were really left with no option but to sit deep to counter the wing threats with Loftus Cheek and Werner coming into the midfield occasionally to help with the numbers and force Brighton to play wide.
Opinion: Graham Potter came up on top tactically but individual qualities meant that Brighton had to take an ‘L’ in their first game at the Amex Stadium. #BRICHE #mufc #brighton
Lots of exciting signs for Graham Potter’s side. He could take positives from Tariq Lamptey’s display as well as their overall control of the game. They however should be ready for more frontline pressure if they are going to insist on playing out from the back! 37 games to go

Lots of work to do for Frank Lampard’s side. He needs to make sure his team gels together real quick for the fixtures ahead. He can however take positives from the dominant display from his center backs, a rare scene from the previous season.
With Liverpool to play next, Frank’s biggest headache would be his GK, center back choices for Liverpool...as Thiago waits on the sidelines, his LB choices and to get his new signing Kai Havertz firing.

#FPL Watch? Watchout for Tariq Lamptey at 4.5. The kid is electric, creating chances with nice runs into opposition lines.
You can’t also leave out Reece James, rewarded his managers with a goal and assist. There’s more to come from the Chelsea youngster
