An interesting development on #bizhumanrights, social media & election information:

My brother @adamvanho posted a joke asking whether a far-right twitter handle would advocate Republicans vote on a different day than Democrats so as to not contaminate their ballots.

1/
He was not saying this was the day for voting or suggesting Republicans vote on the other day. I've actually seen the tweet now but he was suspended for 12 hours & can't post the photo on twitter. I'm afraid to post the photo of the notification in case I'm also suspended.

2/
. @Facebook, however, has no problem with us posting or discussing whether Republicans should "vote" on a day that is not election day.

So I woke up this morning to this reality and to the Buzzfeed piece on #Facebook's overall approach to election interference:

3/
So I woke up this morning to this story from my brother (and a plea to start a #FreeAdam hashtag) as well as the buzzfeed story on FB election interference:

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/craigsilverman/facebook-ignore-political-manipulation-whistleblower-memo
And I'm left feeling like @Twitter overreacted and misidentified @adamvanho's tweet as spreading false information ( #FreeAdam) while @facebook has repeatedly & egregiously under-reacted to serious threats affecting #humanrights.

5/
And this brings me to the question of remedies for #bizhumanrights impacts, particularly in the context of #freespeech in #Socialmedia (because I'm not a normal person I can't just say either #freeAdam or "no, bro).
6/
But they do have significant power to thwart legitimate debates, satire, and jokes, and confuse these things with misinformation. What are the rights of individuals who are targeted for suspension in terms of appeal or apology/clarification?
8/
I am on my lunch break so I don't have time to research @Twitter terms of service, but I know that @jenny_domino, @vivian_ngpy & @Barrie_Sander have recent/upcoming pieces on #bizhumanrights & social media. Am wondering if they can shed light on the #FreeAdam movement?
9/
And am also wondering if they think it is reasonable to have a differentiated remediation system depending on the length of the suspension?
