Do you think the ~ £230m Ole has had to spend means he has been backed?
At first glance, it’s hard to say he hasn’t been. But after a lot of thought on the topic, I’ve changed my stance.

Ole has not been backed by the board. Here are my reasons why.
1. All managers post-SAF have all said the same thing. The club is run like a business. Managers are promised support, but rarely seem to get their top targets. Ole wanted KK and got a cheaper, yet still overpriced second choice option in Maguire. Ole wanted Bruno. Had to wait
six months and suffer through an injury crisis and even then, he was acquired too slow. Ole wanted Jude, he went to Dortmund. Ole wants Sancho, he just played for Dortmund.
2. Ole is doing everything he can to clear deadwood out. Players that most all fans can agree that should not be at the club. Getting rid of those players means new addition need to come in. Ole has done more than his fair share of using the academy. He needs experienced players.
3. The total price paid by United shouldn’t be totally on him, or should net spend as he didn’t hand out the massively inflated contracts that cause us to sell players on for smaller fees than their worth. United’s lack of quality negations with both other clubs for fees,
as well as, with agents over player contracts, agent fees, etc. That something completely out of Ole (or any other United manager’s control).
4. Ole got rid of United’s top scorer and replaced him with a teenager. Chelsea supporters will argue Frank lost his best player (rightly so) but United lost one of its best players as well. He didn’t fit, so it was the correct move, but that’s a big loss.
Frank also inherited two new players (Kova and Pulisic) during his ban who happened to be some of their best performers. Frank has gotten 8 more players since.
Klopp got 9 in his first two years. Pep got 13 in his first two years. Ole has not been proportionally backed.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Have I missed anything? Is there something I’m looking at incorrectly in your opinion?
