As we mark #InternationalDayofDemocracy it's crucial to remember that tech companies, that once claimed to bring us together, have business models that monetise content that drives us apart.

For Big Tech, more division = more

For too long companies like @Facebook & @Google operated like black boxes and turned a blind eye to

Harmful content
Dark money funding our elections
Micro-targeting that polarises entire populations
Exploitation of personal data

But it doesn't have to be this way.

We want a world where:

Social media companies and Big Tech are forced to operate in way that is transparent
Online hate & discrimination are not able to flourish unchecked
We're able to engage in political debate without being micro-targeted with polarising ads

You will see our passionate campaigners, policy nerds, and investigators untangling the complexities of the digital threats to our democracies.
