I’m watching The Test on Netflix at the moment, the Australian Cricket Team are in a rut and rebuilding a team

Justin Langer the coach talks about ‘the process’ and ‘white noise’ in the quest to improve the teams results
The process relates to sticking to the basics, doing the simple things well and treating every ball as the most important of your life

White noise is ignoring what the press, the opposition, the supporters are saying, as results from the process will not be immediate
This resonates with me with how I am approaching Football Index right now

I am predominantly a longer time trader, my process is identifying players that I believe are undervalued will rise in price and will return significant dividends either now or in the future
I am not seeing the results from this right now on the price rises, but believe the process is correct and therefore I am remaining true to the process.

My white noise is mainly the price swings we are seeing, some of these are quite large based off very small events,
Havertz down £1 as an example after his debut. My view on this as a non holder was that he wasn’t fully match fit and the drop is unjustified. A couple of good performances/goals and he will probably rise

My process dictates that this is a 3 year/career bet and therefore I need
To ignore this white noise and stick to my process and trust that I will see the results in the future

I haven’t finished the Netflix series so I don’t know if Justin Langer’s approach works for Australia (although I kind of do being a cricket fan) and I don’t know for sure it
will work for me, but it ensures I am not consumed by the price movements, am not chasing rises, am not chasing losses and hopefully thinking clearly and making rational decisions

I believe over time the price movements will reduce and we will see the price action start to trend
upwards again, due to the attractiveness of the dividends on offer

For me this process is not a 90 minute bet but a 3 year one

Good luck 👍
