dark souls and kingdom hearts are the same to me in my brian
fgkdhdjjd they at literally soo different, but there ssomething texturturally specific abt action jrpgs that they both share.... I wonder what other games have this
also just in kh1 the world layouts are so Obtuse and Empty. there is something actually pretty meloncholic to the story & world that I wasn't expecting actually. I thought kh2 was where it turned emo, but its kind of always been there.
it's ff meets disney fanfiction, its very cartoon and silly, and yet there's a lot of visually darkness in it. Traverse Town for ex. is always night. the vibrancy of the buildings and lights cover over a sense sadness, loneliness. it's a home, but not one out of choice
neverland and monstro r also kind of like this. they're both pretty much just a dungeon crawl to catch up with riku, not much story to them. but something abt darkness and claustrophobia of them rly hit me. they feel like a bad dream I would have had as a kid
and the plot too. like the strained relationship between sora and riku, sora desperately trying to grasp at the crumbling pieces of his childhood as they fall away....

it almost feels like the game is forcing itself to put up a front when the disney characters come around lmao
