My teachers were always confused as to how responsive I was in class but was absolute shit at taking exams. Finishing with 2/60 was normal for me.
My private tutor would ask the same questions & I& #39;d answer nearly all correctly, which only just adds to everyone& #39;s frustration. 1/8 https://twitter.com/PulseNigeria247/status/1305536181157928961">https://twitter.com/PulseNige...
What is wrong with this boy? Does he crumble under the pressure of exams? That was their conclusion and they weren& #39;t entirely wrong. Imagine knowing no matter how much you studied, you& #39;d still fail... Woefully 2/8
My parents stopped being mad & in a way accepted that I was different despite not knowing what dyslexia is.
I still have difficulty reading & spelling. I don& #39;t read words, I mentally take a pic of the word & commit to memory, if I can& #39;t remember the picture, I can& #39;t spell it.

I have to read a material at least 3 times to understand what I am reading.

The first time to check if they are words I don& #39;t have a mental picture of.

The second time is to get the flow and the third to assimilate what I am reading.

If you can& #39;t spell, obviously writing would be a problem and it& #39;s not just alphabers, it& #39;s numbers too. I mean to write 4 but I write 7, to write 6 but write 9, 3 but write 8 or 5. Because I remember via images, you can see why this is a problem.

These numbers look alike so it& #39;s easy to mix them up.
My ex boss"You& #39;re a good writer but write faster" this was when I was a writer. Currently, i work with Data, so I deal with a ton of numbers, so you can imagine the torture of checking, cross checking & checking again.

That plus my hatred for being touched, ectreemly short attention span, laughable short term memory and my tendency to fixate on things.

So many people are living with this but have conceded that they are just dumb, they aren& #39;t, they just learn differently.
Thankfully I had parents who were reassuring.
Bottom line, it& #39;s not easy. As a teacher, parent or boss; you need a gargantuan amount of patience.
