Putting the brakes on consumption requires a mindful and educated understanding of our carbon and ecological footprint

1. Read @MikeBernersLee new just published updated, expanded 'How Bad are Bananas? The Carbon Footprint of Everything'

3. The Joyful Environmentalist @IsabelLosada
4. The Master and His Emissary - Iain McGilchrist (so you don't get stuck in narrow siloed thinking)
5. But just get stuck in
6. Get some mud or paint and mark your own footprint and handprint on a piece of paper / other surface
1/3
7. Once you have marked your footprint. Start surrounding it with what you consume, I mean everything from food to data to electricity to petrol and diesel to trains, flights, trains, stuff you buy, buses, mobile phones computers, video streaming clothes toiletries etc

8. Once you have marked your handprint, surround it with all the things you currently do to help push for system change

Have your ancestors /activists/ citizens/ campaigners politicians been successful at creating agency in your community? If not your community needs you
1/5
What do I mean by agency?

9. Can you walk and cycle safely in your local and wider community? Is it safe enough for a child to cycle or walk to school independently?
10. Do you have a local farmers market selling local, organic, seasonal food?
10. Do you have electric buses and trains?
11. Do you have a local solar micro-grid that produces and shares solar energy locally?
12. Do you have local shops selling plastic free, 2nd hand and repaired items?
Does your community come together to discuss these things in an open, mindful and caring way? Supporting each other to cut carbon individually and within the community? If not then time to get your handprint moving, actively giving a helping hand
