She blindfolded herself because of dhritrastra. She was mother of 101 Kauravas ( 100 sons + 1 daughter). Gandhari had given birth to undeveloped embryo. Vyas used his knowledge to save the embryo by keeping them safe in test tubes.
She had done Tapasya of Mahadev and got the boon of giving birth to 100 sons. Gandhari was very much enraged due to end of his vansh. She cursed Lord Krishna that his clan would end fighting among themselves as her sons died. Due to her curse whole Vrishni Vansh ended.
She was always against the evil decisions of his husband and sons. She always tried to encounter them and stop them.
