I won’t be posting anything related to detention centers bc as a Maya Ch’orti’ womxn, I feel helpless reading the stories right now They are my people and communities and through those children I see my father who was their age when he was forced as a child soldier aye

I just want folks to understand that most of those children whose photos of them in cages that are used as click bait are from many Maya communities from Central America...we mourn what they are doing to our women, we have been mourning our children’s deaths for some time now.

So give Maya folks you know some time and space to process everything going on. I inherited my fathers war trauma, I inherited his displacement...many of our generation haven’t healed for our future generations. Thank you all for understanding us.
