Short thread: Don't assume that staying 6 feet from others provides some magical protection from #COVID19. Talked to a friend today who is recovering after getting the virus from a contact (and then spreading it to her family). 1/
My friend spent an hour talking with someone in an enclosed space. They thought it was safe because they were sitting more than 6 feet apart. The other person didn't realize they had #COVID19. We're learning that people are often contagious just before symptoms appear. 2/
My friend and her contact were not wearing masks. Again, they didn't realize one of them had the virus and assumed it was safe because they were sitting more than 6 feet apart in the room.
#COVID19 spreads through droplets and air can circulate in a room. 3/
Just like you wouldn't drive without a seat belt just because your car has air bags, you shouldn't assume you don't need a mask because you are 6 feet away from someone. Especially if you are hanging out in enclosed spaces with people not living in your household. 4/4
