I've only been to @AkronOhioMayor a few times and never explored beyond a specific destination before today, but from what I saw this city is on the verge of something very cool! 1/
The skyline and cityscape is pretty impressive when you get up close and personal ... and I really like the art deco architecture of Huntington Tower! 2/
That was just a preamble to all the great architecture and historic renovations happening just south of Bowery, which I've since learned are part of a $31M overhaul of Main St. 3/

This stretch of buildings on the western side of South Main are severely cool / eye catching (and again, totally restored), culminating at the stunning @akroncivic Theater! 4/
Further south I came across @Lock3Akron which (even in it's suspended state) is an incredible green space right in the heart of the city, and will be included in larger open container friendly DORA zone. 5/
A look back north at the construction crews working along S Main which is closed to traffic but I was able to traverse on foot without issue. 6/
Even more great architecture heading south, all looking to be on the tail end of restoration efforts. 7/
Came across the first modern style build @401Lofts at W Cedar where I looped back around to check out @AkronRubberDuck Canal Park. 8/
Not before admiring this amazing bike / e-scooter (Akron just welcomed @ridespin last week) friendly lane! Well done! 9/
Another look back at the Main St revitalization from the corner of Exchange St ... where btw I had a great Banh Mi and coffee at a small cafe called Evelyn's!

Very cool how Canal Park blends in on the street level and integrates Main St and Water St through a public boardwalk. Plus, have always enjoyed the city backdrop at baseball stadiums. 11/
At the end of the walkway I discovered actual canals and the @TowpathTrail! Super chill vibe and some interesting public gathering spots. 12/
Which led back to Lock 3 and the rear of @BoweryDistrict with its crazy / cool atrium, a few waterfalls and some relaxing seating areas. 13/
At the top of the stairs I was back where I started on Bowery St. The @TowpathTrail continued on here complete with A+ bike infrastructure and a cool mural to boot. 14/
Beyond the construction noise it was very quiet though and not many people around, but I have a feeling that's going to change very soon.
For the few blocks I saw, I was pretty impressed! And with Main St set to reopen in the coming months there's a lot to look forward to!
