@KiaraGhosteater commissioned me for a sfw krbk abo where Bakugou is an omega having trouble making his nest.

There was a nagging feeling tugging at the strings of Eijiro’s heart. An uneasiness settling just under his skin as he checked his phone for the seventh time to see that Katsuki still hadn’t messaged him back.
“Fuck,” Denki chortled, the beta waving his hand in front of his face, a weak attempt to clear the air. “Just go dude, you’re stinking up my apartment.”

“/Our/ apartment,” Hanta, their friend, fellow beta and Denki’s roommate corrected with a sniff.
But seriously, it’s cool man. Just go, we can catch up later. No biggie.”

Part of Eijiro wanted to stay and be a good friend. After all, it was hard enough to find time to hangout these days. Adulting didn’t often leave a whole lot of space for it, /but/
his Alpha was getting unbearable, causing his distress to practically ooze out of his pores, the air mud thick around him. Katsuki had looked off when Eijiro was getting ready to leave this morning, but when he offered to stay with the Omega, Katsuki nearly bit his face off.
It was so frustrating not being able to take care of him properly. He tried not to think about the why too hard. Still, his heart ached at the passing thought.

Denki gags.
“Bro, okay for real for real, you’ve got to go. Not trying to kick you out, but goddamn it’s getting gross in here.” The blond stands up and crosses the room to open up a window at the same time Hanta is getting up to click on the ceiling fan.
The air from outside quickly pulls up into the blades of the fan, swirling around the fresh, untainted air. The beta’s both breathe it in eagerly.

He feels like shit for ditching out on them, but he can’t get Katsuki’s face out of his head.
“Go,” Hanta tells him firmly, clapping a hand to his shoulder. “I get it.”

He doesn’t though, being a Beta and all.
For a second, Eijiro wishes he was in Hanta’s shoes, able to live an almost carefree life, never having to worry about the demanding pulls from his inner Alpha, the heartbreak of being rejected by the only Omega he’d ever wanted th—
“/Go/,” Hanta says for a second time, the hand on his shoulder tightening as he pushes him towards the door.

Eijiro sighs, gives Denki a little wave of apology and then he’s out the door, sprinting towards his car.

~~~
On the drive, Eijiro compromises with himself. He’ll go home, check on Katsuki, make sure his Alpha physically sees the Omega is fine and then he can drive back to his friend's place in peace. Everybody wins.
Even his Alpha, though disgruntled by the thought of leaving Katsuki again, sees the logic in it.
At least that was the plan until Eijiro opens the front door and gets hit with a scent that raises all the hairs on his body.
Baring his teeth, Eijiro carefully steps into through the door on high alert. Somewhere in the house, Katsuki is hurting. Swallowing down the pool of saliva in his mouth, an effect when his fangs elongate.
Eijiro tip toes down into the hallway where the scent seems to be the heaviest. It burns his nose, makes him ache, but he needs to focus. Someone is doing this to Katsuki, someone whose life is going to end the second Eijiro gets his hands on him.
As quietly as he can, Eijiro makes his way until he is standing outside of Katsuki’s bedroom door. He can hear muffled crying from within, and unable to control his Alpha, Eijiro kicks open the door.
So much for discretion.
With a gasp, Katsuki jerks from his position on the floor. His arms are curled around his knees, and there’s a red mark on his face from where his jeans dug into the flesh of his cheeks. He looks miserable as he looks up at Eijiro, his eyes red rimmed and welled up with tears.
Eijiro is next to him in a heartbeat, his hands cupping Katsuki’s face gently, forcing the blond to look into his eyes.
“Who did this to you?” Eijiro demands.
Katsuki sniffs and tries to look away.
“/Katsuki/,” Eijiro says, fully aware that he is using his Alpha’s voice but too weak to stop it. Too anxious to find out how to help him. “/Who did this to you?/”
“No one,” Katsuki says, almost automatically before his eyebrows scrunch together. “Hey, stop that.”
Eijiro gives him a weak smile, forcing his Alpha into check. That’s right, Katsuki isn’t his. He has no right to let his Alpha speak to him like that. “Sorry,” Eijiro says, letting go of Katsuki’s face, trying not to let it show how badly it hurts him to do so.
Swiping at his face, Katsuki drops his eyes to the floor. “It’s fine.”
“No,” Eijiro says quickly. “I know how you hate it, I’m sorry.” Katsuki looks like he’s about to say something, probably another reassurance that the Alpha doesn’t deserve, so Eijiro speaks before he can.
“So, do you want to talk about what’s got you so upset?”
Katsuki blanches and buries his face back into his knees.
Eijiro’s Alpha whines, increasingly frustrated at being useless for the Omega, just like always.
Katsuki’s head snaps up, and it’s then that Eijiro realizes he is probably scenting the air, making him uncomfortable.
“I’m sor—“
“Isn’t it obvious?” Katsuki says, cutting him off. “Look at this fucking mess.”
Confused and looking at the room for the first time, Eijiro takes it all in. There are blankets, pillows and clothes scattered all around Katsuki’s usually meticulously organized room. It looks like a bomb went off.
“Spring cleaning?” Eijiro asks, trying to make a joke.
Katsuki frowns, his shoulders stiffening. “Don’t make fun of me,” he says. His voice is quiet, and a second later, Eijiro can taste that sadness heavy in the air again.
Hurriedly Eijiro leans back into his space and puts his hand back on Katsuki’s cheek, “Hey, look at me,” Eijiro tells him seriously. “I’d never make fun of you, okay?”
His eyes are wary when they look back at him, but he doesn’t ask Eijiro to move his hand off of him.
“I…,” Katsuki starts, before swallowing. “I was trying to make a nest.”
It takes everything in Eijiro to will his Alpha to stay quiet, to stop himself from letting out the wail that threatened to rip from his throat. Nesting means one thing, it means that Katsuki’s Omega found a mate.
A mate that surely wasn’t him.
It’s a struggle, but eventually Eijiro gets his mouth and this tongue to work together enough for him to push out a single, “That’s great. I’m happy for you.” He takes his hand off of Katsuki’s face, and starts to get up.
He can’t be in this room with him, he can’t be in this house even, he needs to get out.
His alpha is shockingly quiet. Maybe this fresh final heartbreak killed it.
Behind him, Katsuki hiccups on a sob.
Despite the need to run, to get as far away from him as possible, Katsuki is /still/ his best friend. With a heavy heart, Eijiro turns back around and looks down at him.
“I’m sorry,” Katsuki mumbles, his voice thick with tears.
Ah, so Katsuki knew how badly he was wanted by him. Eijiro didn’t want to hear his apologies, after all it wasn’t Katsuki’s fault he wasn’t a good enough Alpha for him.
“It’s okay,” Eijiro says softly, unable to meet his eyes. “I’ll be okay,” he lies.
It’s not manly to not tell the truth but Katsuki really seemed sorry, no need to make him feel worse about something he can’t help. “We can still be friends. That isn’t going to change just because you found some other Alpha.”
Inside, his Alpha hissed. He was still alive after all. Good, at least he wasn’t alone in his suffering.
Katsuki gasps. “What?”
“Yeah,” Eijiro says, ignoring the way his chest feels like it’s caving in on itself or the way his Alpha is howling inside.
“I would never do anything to get in the way of your….happiness and the Alpha who you choose.” He means it, he really would step aside for whoever it was that Katsuki actually wanted, no matter the pain it would cause him.
There isn’t a warning when Katsuki jumps up to his feet, a flash of anger lighting up his eyes. “You’re an idiot.”
Eijiro flinches.
Sucking in a deep breath, Katsuki levels him with a look before exhaling and points to his stripped bed. “I was trying to make a nest for /us/, stupid. But I… I keep fucking up. It’s not right and I don’t know why and I can’t present you with a shit nest you fucking asshole.”
His face is red by the time he’s finished, Eijiro’s mouth dropping open in stunned silence as his Alpha loses it’s ever loving mind.
“You… want me?” Eijiro finally squeaks out, his heart in his throat.
Gingerly, Katsuki’s eyes meet his. “Yeah,” he says softly. “Do you...you know, want me? Even if I can’t make this fucking nest pretty?”
What a stupid question.
Without hesitation, Eijiro closes the distance between them and pulls Katsuki into his arms, lifting him off of the ground and squeezes him as hard as he can.
Just as he always imagined, Katsuki hugs Eijiro back, burying his face into the Alpha’s neck, his nose burrowing just under his ear and he inhales deeply.
“Fuck,” he hisses, wrapping his arms around him tighter still. “I was so goddamned worried Eijiro, I dunno what I would have done if you said no.” Eijiro sets him down, moving the Omega’s arms to hold his hands in between his own.
“Good thing you don’t have to worry about that, then huh?”
Katsuki grins so hard, it’s almost feral, showing off all his teeth as his eyes move to Eijiro’s mouth. “This is backwards as shit, but I think I might literally lose my mind if you don’t fucking kiss me right now.”
Not one to deny his Omega of anything, Eijiro nods once and then brings their lips together. It’s surprisingly sweet. Soft full lips press against his, careful and gentle.
Katsuki’s hands move out from Eijiro’s and card themselves into his hair, fisting his stands ever so slightly as he deepens their kiss. It ends much too soon for Eijiro’s liking, but Katsuki’s soft smile eases the loss of his mouth on his.
Eijiro wants to kiss again, for forever if he’s being honest, but he also wants to do this right. He wants to prove that he’ll be a good Alpha to him.
“Can I help you?” He asks, earnestly. “Can we build your nest together?”
It’s not something he’d heard of before, most Omega’s preferring it be something they do alone, but Katsuki has always done things his own way. He shouldn’t be surprised, but he still is when Katsuki nods.
“Okay, but I’m calling the shots. Just because you’re my Alpha now doesn’t mean you get to be in charge. Got it?”
Eijiro laughs, grabbing for Katsuki again and presses a kiss to his temple.
“Whatever you say,” he tells him, fully meaning it. Surely though, Katsuki must know how fully whipped he is for him already?
Building the nest is a tedious task, and Katsuki seems to know exactly what he wants. Most of it seems to be Eijiro’s clothes now that they’ve begun to fully bond. But Eijiro doesn’t mind, he’ll give up all his hoodies if it meant Katsuki continued to look this happy.
When it’s nearly done, Katsuki only then kicks him out of the room, saying the last part he needs to do alone, that he’s too embarrassed to have an audience. Just before he leaves the room, Katsuki demands that Eijiro gives him the shirt off of his back,
an easy request to fulfill and doesn’t even bother to ask questions, just pulls it over his head.
When he’s allowed back in, Katsuki looks bashful. There are a few candles lit, ones that Eijiro hadn’t noticed before and there is soft music playing in the background.
He spies his shirt and the one Katsuki was wearing being used as makeshift pillow cases, and it’s so adorable and cheesy that Eijiro nearly combusts on the spot.
Despite his embarrassment, Katsuki somehow keeps his voice even when he officially invites Eijiro in the nest, endearing him all the more.
Of course the nest is perfect, so comfortable it feels almost like a sin to be allowed, and Eijiro makes sure to tell Katsuki so, and how lucky he is to be sharing it with him, something that both pleases and embarrasses Katsuki to no end.
“God, I swear I don’t think I ever want to leave,” Eijiro sighs, pulling Katsuki in closer to his chest.
“Good thing you don’t have to worry about that, then huh?”
With a soft smile, Eijiro kisses his perfect mate just because he finally can. “Yeah, good thing.”
