When a certain author released her first book, she did so using her initials because boys wouldn't read a book written by a woman.

When she released her first detective novel, she did so under a male pseudonym, I think partially to be taken more seriously as a mystery author.
It's perfectly easy for her to adopt male identities and take advantage of male privilege when it suits her and to gain more acclaim and more privilege. To then use her massive platform to attack trans people multiple times is abhorrent and a gross misuse of power.
Her latest book deploys a harmful trope of a man dressing as a woman to gain access to and kill women. The character is not a trans woman but this trope reinforces the stereotypes the author has supported in her public statements and interactions about trans people.
Make no mistake. She is dressing up as a man and using that privilege to harm women.
Trans women are already subject to disproportionate levels of violence and murder due to distrust and suspicion that they are sexual deviants and/or somehow dangerous predator men who are out to get cis women. Reinforcing that will only lead to more violence and more deaths.
Trans folk just want to be able to participate in life without fear that a trip to the bathroom, or to buy a new dress, will result in a violent confrontation with someone who thinks they are dangerous or perverted.
