As we told you earlier, Southlake officers were notified via NETCOM dispatch of a potential criminal mischief/break-in at CHS at around 3:36am this morning after getting an alert for motion detection at the school. Officers arrived around 3:41am & began checking the property.

1/
While investigating, officers spotted the suspect, later identified as 17-year old Wyatt Chappel, who took off running from them. Officers pursued him on foot and took him into custody a short time later.

2/
Officers on the scene discovered multiple glass doors and windows throughout the Carroll High School campus were broken and damaged, and there was extensive damage caused by fire extinguishers inside the building.

3/
Chappel was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Building, Criminal Mischief $30,000 < $150,000, and Evading Arrest and Detention. He was transported to Keller Jail and later transferred to the Tarrant County Jail.

4/
As stated earlier, we believe this subject may be involved with the previous graffiti offenses of CISD school property over the summer.

We want to commend our officers’ quick response to the scene, as well as their strategy and coordination in apprehending the suspect.

5/
We’d also like to commend our dispatchers for their alertness and for providing the necessary information to responding officers.

Any other information will be posted to this thread.
