Do ppl think landlords are out here personally building houses themselves
They're taking homes that already exist off the market so that they can make folks pay, by design, more than they paid for it, keeping housing in a cycle of increasing prices where renters are unable to save up to buy a home themselves due to increasing rent and also house prices
You'd be able to get something reasonably priced if not for landlords

And they're constantly acquiring more and more housing in your city, making it harder and harder to find something to actually buy and live in, keeping you in a cycle of rent
They didn't build that house that thing was already there, being cheap
Also never forget we have multitudes more empty homes than homeless people, and yes that includes in whatever city you're thinking of. San Francisco, New York, nationally and locally we have empty unlived in spaces many times over how many people don't have somewhere to live
