Black people knew that plenty of the non-Black folks who followed us for BLM would unfollow the second we became human and not just tools for their “learning journey.”

News flash: peace for our full humanity is the entire point. We’re more than what we teach you.
If you only followed Black folks to “learn” bc we posted information or anti-racist resources or spilled our personal stories of encounters with oppression, of course you’re going to be “bored” when we post our kids or our spouses or something Black as hell that you don’t get.
Imagine if people, I dunno, saw Black people as full human beings? With a full range of emotions? Who want to raise our families in peace? And celebrate milestones with joy? And don’t always have every answer and don’t always want to save your democracy?

IMAGINE THAT.
But many of y’all can’t even digest that in 240 characters.

Flattening Black people to what we do for you is an absolute perpetuation of the white supremacy you claim you hate.

That’s some white moderate behavior.

We see you.
I’m not mad, because I expected it. I’m well aware y’all love the idea of Black folks more than actual Black folks.

But if you fit the description, time to graduate from the intro course & open the textbook for Anti-racism 201: Looking in the Mirror.

Yeah. We meant you, too.
TL;DR:

This hilarious but accurate exchange is pretty much what I’m talkin bout LOL. https://twitter.com/_theghettomonk/status/1305558428530638851
Too many of y’all are really just looking for a sassy Black sidekick who disappears from the screen until it’s time for us to teach you the life lesson and that’s just... not how any of this works.
