I'm in the process of being scammed by someone on Ebay.
This is the 3rd person who has tried to scam me while selling this thing and now I just want to mess with them and bring you all along for the ride of course. So here we go! /1
I'm selling the Surface Book I reviewed a few months back. I buy most of what I review. I like to make some of the $ back so I can buy more stuff to review.
This morning I accepted a bid for the sale price of $1300. /2
When they bought it I got this message:
Whenever someone wants your email address or phone number or direct contact with you on Ebay it's bad news. They want to leave the site so they don't have to play by the site's rules. /4
I didn't want to play the text them game so after a few hours without them paying for the item they purchased I sent an invoice. This is Ebay's way of gently reminding them to pay for what they bought. /5
Then I got this... an email that looks like it's from Ebay saying they paid for it so that I would mail it to them.
Clearly this didn't come from Ebay and I never received the money.
So I decided to ignore it until I got this follow up message.
So. The game is afoot.
I have an address in Arkansas to ship this to (don't worry I'm not).
I want to ship SOMETHING... and make it look like it's the package. The question is what? Also what's the best way to lead this person on for as long as possible? /8
I want to text this person but I don't want them to have my real phone number. is there a way to do that? /9
Yay! I have a google voice number to text them with now!
Message sent. I'm trying to play dumb but not to dumb. I'll let you know what they say.
Oh, now they are changing the type of shipping on me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think I'm going to play dumb and ship it snail mail. pretend I didn't see his last message.
Next step, I'm going to wait a little bit then tell him I got back from the post office and he should have it in 2 days. He will probably ask for a confirmation number. I won't have one but I did manage to take a picture of the box as proof that I mailed it.
If all goes well he will notice I inverted the numbers on his address and freak out.
Also, I should point out I have mailed nothing.
Ok, I told him he didn't pay for Fed EX 🤣😁😁
He hasn't noticed the wrong address yet but he seems to buying the story.
He asked about a receipt. I had to think on my feet. seems to be buying it.
