Wow. I needed this recovery Monday, a day usually reserved for re-egenergising after #MigFest.
A heartwarming & heartbreaking weekend deep within the fold of the Spurn family. I& #39;m glowing with affection for my mates & community as I reflect on us saying goodbye to one of our own
On Saturday we held an informal memorial service for Philip Ridsdale in the @spurnbirdobs garden. It was with strangled voice, as I fought back tears, that I said a few words about what Phil meant to me and us. We had a drink. We hummed along to a beautiful song.
It was such an honour to share a magnificent afternoon & Humber sunset with his family & friends; a bittersweet reminder of how far reaching Phil& #39;s kindness, knowledge & selflessness permeated

Ron& #39;s got it here. I& #39;m usually pretty rubbish at processing grief. But this weekend really helped me realise that I won& #39;t see him walk through the Obs door this autumn, that I won& #39;t ever hear Exley call up "Big Phil" on the radio. This must be & #39;closure& #39;... https://twitter.com/biovegenic/status/1305143388220555264?s=19">https://twitter.com/biovegeni...
But I know that come November, when I& #39;m sat on his bench watching continental Blackbirds spiralling out of the Crown copse and head inland in the last of the day& #39;s light, I& #39;ll be thinking of him. And as long as the Blackbirds keep coming each autumn, so will Phil.
Talk your friends, talk to the quiet ones, talk to the ones who are always laughing - let those you love know that they can come to you with anything, that no one has to deal with things alone. I& #39;d like to hope my friends know that I am there.
