Seeing a lot of calls to lockdown Dublin, and seeing it compared to decision to impose restrictions in other places. It might be necessary to do so at some point but it’s absolutely not the same. Ireland is a small country with a centralised economy, again due to many years of
poor choices, but it’s the truth. If you “lock down” Dublin then the truth of the matter is that it doesn’t impact the people living in Dublin *too* much. They can consume almost all the goods and services they need without leaving that county. Yes you’d have pubs and restaurants
Stuff which would be an inconvenience but nothing compared to what people outside Dublin would be dealing with, many of whom will be travelling to Dublin a number of times per week for work, shopping, services and essential public services such as hospitals, courts, airports and
education. The flow of non Dublin residents into Dublin to consume those services is orders of magnitude greater than the other way round. So barrack for a Dublin lockdown if you want, but just remember : it’s not revenge for the five in a row, or Leinster’s dominance or de meeja
Or whatever you’re having yourself. It’s a massive call with arguably more serious ramifications for a large tract of the nation outside Dublin than within it.
