With the final push of the fall campaign about to begin, now is a great time to buy our book about which news stories broke through to the public during the 2016 campaign. https://www.amazon.com/Words-that-Matter-Presidential-Campaign/dp/0815731914/
To get the word out, every day this week I'll highlight a key finding from the book. The first comes from our huge rolling cross-sectional survey with Gallup, where we asked respondents open-ended what they had "read, seen or heard" recently about Clinton and Trump.
We interviewed 500-people a day from July 11 to election day. "Email" dominated what people recalled hearing about Clinton. No single story dominated what people recalled about Trump. Here are the most frequent words people used each week in our Clinton and Trump open-endeds.
The email story was especially salient in the open-endeds during the last week and a half. At that same time, people couldn't recall hearing much about Trump at all at the very end. See photos in last tweet. I'll have more tomorrow. https://www.amazon.com/Words-that-Matter-Presidential-Campaign/dp/0815731914/
