In the interests of my mental health, and an acceptance that getting angry over the #InternalMarketBill debate won't help anyone, least of all myself, it's time for another cooking thread. First up the most important thing, booze. We're on mead for now.
Got to have some corn on the cob with a BBQ. Best way, and to try and minimise waste through using tin foil, we're cooking it with the husks on. Step one though is soaking it in ice cold water to give it some moisture.
Should probably warn that that bottle of mead was new today, so already starting cooking on the back foot so to speak.
Getting a bit experimental with the veg we will be cooking on the bbq, basically it's what we had ready from the garden. Home grown, barring the peppers as ours aren't ready yet. Apple, courgette, pepper and chilli mix.
I have absolutely no idea at this point what is about to go into this dressing, but the bottle on the end has been knocking around long enough to need using, and it appears to have chilli's in it so what could go wrong?
Won't lie, just tasted the mix and am now putting a lot of faith in the miracle properties of cooking on a BBQ to make it taste better. Either that or dulling taste buds with drink.
Corn on the cob desilked, taken the fluffy bits off the inside, and smothered with garlic butter before rewrapping. May, possibly, have overdone the garlic butter, but hey, it's all good for social distancing.
Slight technical hiccup. Forgot to check how much charcoal we had. Hoping to eak out the remains of charcoal and some old lump wood. This is not a good turn of events.
Houston we have a problem, another one
One crisis averted
More than a little possible at this point that the corn on the cob will be the only things remotely BBQ'd before I abort due to lack of heat and cook everything else inside.
By the way for anyone who has previously followed my cookery threads I am still waiting for a call from @BBC, @ITV, @Channel4, @channel5_tv or anyone else for "How to to cock up cooking" (TM). Here when you want to commission it folks.
You can follow @stand_for_all.
