The Legal Challenge - Ashley v PL

1/ Fatima QC and De Marco QC are two exceptional solicitors in their prospective fields. Arguably, there is nobody better out there to represent MA and NUFC in this matter (the Messi and Ronaldo of lawyers if you like).

2/ Both specialise in fields pertinent to the matters in the NUFC takeover - one exclusively a sports dispute barrister with a wealth of top-tier experience and the other an expert in commercial and regulatory law (amongst human rights and other specialities which may be of use)

3/ What’s most interesting though, is that both have huge reputations and would not agree to represent NUFC if they didn’t genuinely believe there was a strong case to be had in their favour. To onboard two powerhouses of the legal world is massive.

5/ What can we draw from this? It’s pretty obvious. De Marco would not have taken this case on lightly. He’s had access to all documentation and has himself scoured through this. If there was a possibility he was to be on the losing side, he’d decline and keep his rep. in tact

6/ This is the result of months of meticulous planning. All arguments and counter arguments have been considered and revised. This legal challenge is serious and MA and NUFC are on the front foot.

7/ MA is a shrewd businessman who is known for taking the advice of those he trusts. He will have been told by these very legal experts that this has more than a strong possibility of winning. MA doesn’t take risks - he takes calculated decisions when odds are in his favour.
