Earlier today I made a tweet which comprised of a photo of my sleeve of crackers, where one was slightly darker than the others, captioned "Am I allowed to make a joke about the cast of 90% of mainstream media". As a white person, this was a deeply out of line comment to make 1/4
A person, specifically a white person, making a joke about the struggles of bipoc is disgusting, no matter the context, no matter what light you put it in, and no matter how much of an "ally" you claim to be. There is truly no excuse for what I said today. And 2/4
To my mutuals who are poc, I am deeply sorry. I have failed to make my account a safe space, and you are not required to forgive me in any way, shape, or form. You have the right to do with this thread what you will, and choose if you wish to still interact with me or not. 3/4
And white mutuals, this apology is NOT yours to accept. Do not try to step in and defend me or twist the situation in my favor, or any of that nonsense. Save that energy to listen to the people who were hurt by my comment. 4/4
