Technically due to my Social Media Fast of sorts for September, I’m not on Twitter on MWF. But, with there being a hurricane and me nerding out, I’ll be updating here. 🙃 This will be my Sally thread! https://twitter.com/jessicaebarmer/status/1305527071456792581
#Sally is now officially a Cat. 1 hurricane.
#Sally in the last 30 hours. #alwx https://twitter.com/cira_csu/status/1305554501575737344
Saraland, AL, looking south. #Sally #alwx
What’s that saying? Battening down the hatches? Sally is now a Cat. 2.
Not many places were boarded up that I saw on my way home. That may change overnight. #Sally #alwx
Just became a weird color outside, an orange. Couldn’t get a pic or vid, it just turned out as normal color. But the Orange was bouncing off everything. So weird. #Sally #alwx
Last update for tonight and then I’m going to bed. #Sally has shifted eastward even more. Making Mobile more in a direct path. For reference, when looking at this picture, my neighborhood area is essentially where the “o” and “b” are in the word Mobile. #alwx
I’m no stranger to natural disasters, though I’m usually more on the other side of them, helping with relief and such. This will only be my second hurricane to experience since living in #Alabama.
We are as prepared as we can be, and basically need #Sally to speed up (sitting, churning off the coast is worse), so she can go on her way, but not gain any max sustained winds to up her category.
No idea what all tomorrow brings, but it’s about to be a looong 24/48 hours down here on the coast. #Sally #alwx
These tropical sunsets though. Make my city shine. 😍 #Sally #alwx https://twitter.com/spann/status/1305687320432201729
#Sally this morning at daybreak. I love these satellite images! Taken from @spann’s FB live video. #alwx
#Sally is practically stationary, but that helps in pulling up colder water from the ocean. Her winds have weakened and is projected to be a Cat. 1 or tropical storm at landfall. Rain will be the biggest issue and all that comes with that - flooding, storm surge, etc.
We normally park in the back during storms, but decided to stay on the sides of the house this time. Good decision as this morning our parking area is littered with limbs. #sally #alwx
