Why are we finding it so difficult to fight the fascists of the present world order? It is difficult to counter fascism because it is not based on any intellectual theory, but on historical reality. It moulds itself to times. It’s variegated and brutal.

It has the teachings of Machiavelli’s doctrine of oppression, Hegel’s political absolutism and Sorel’s doctrine of violence. Social Darwinism has also been misinterpreted and irrationalised into fitting the agendas of fascist doctrine.

So where does that leave us when dealing with modern fascists? We need a holistic approach. Let’s not give up writing, discussing and speaking up. Poetry. Prose. Let’s keep saying what they do not want to hear. Let’s be obstinate in our resistance to their idea of our country.
