Day after Bears thoughts:

Love to see Montgomery looking quicker and more decisive. Still a beast after contact but he got to and through holes better. This new playing weight suits him better. Wasn't much active in passing game, but circumstances called for more looks at WRs.
Drove me insane the way that Cohen/Patterson were mishandled last year, but now it looks resolved.
They're not complete RBs, each will struggle at times, but we saw several runs of them at their best (working in space). Nagy was able to scheme plays, and OL executed them.
ARob and Miller looked exactly as hoped. ARob failed to come down with that contested ball in the end zone in the 1st half, which is a play we've come to expect him to make, but that isn't reasonable. He comes down with far more than most, but even he can't make them all.
Miller made big plays. Still convinced the ugly looking end zone throw is likely more Miller's fault. Mitch threw to the corner to get Miller 1-on-1, but instead Miller stayed inside where there was safety help. Not a perfect game, but those things are going to happen on occasion
Ginn got open for what would have been a big 3rd down conversion (and potential big run after the catch) in the 1st, but Mitch delivered perhaps his worst ball of day, a good 2-3 yards behind where it should have been. Ginn showed he can still separate. Bears need his speed.
I love what Darnell Mooney brings to this offense. Not only can he threaten deep, but unlike Gabriel he adds a run after the catch dimension the Bears have desperately lacked. He is a weapon and I look forward to watching him grow. Great draft pick by Pace.
Graham was clearly out of sync. Mistiming two jumps that could have really helped his QB fight through early adversity. You'd like to see a vet come up with at least one of those. Looked like a different player in 4th, like the guy we heard about from camp. Caustiously optimistic
Kmet and Harris each got open for a potential TD, but Trubisky failed to deliver the ball into an area where either could even make a play. They finished with no catches, but considering the work the running game put in, I'm going to consider the TEs a slight positive in game one
The OL came out with some aggression. A welcome change from last year. They moved the Lions off the ball on several occasions when drive blocking and opened several large creases when zone blocking.
Too much inside push and a couple of free rushers off the edge in pass pro. Detroit ran a lot of zone blitzes to cause confusion early, which got in Mitch's face. OL didn't crack and start committing back breaking penalties like last year. Huge step in the right direction.
Disappointing effort from the DL. Hicks, Nichols, RRH each flashed once that I can remember, but there was almost no push up the middle until late in the game. They also got gashed several times by AD. Make no mistake, Goldman will be missed.
The pass rush should improve, but consider me mildly concerned about ability to consistently stop run. Bears rotated a ton to keep guys fresh. Hopefully once in midseason form/conditioning, Hicks can be out there more. Bears need his 2018 impact form without Goldman this year.
Mack didn't show up on the stat sheet much, but he played well. Stout at point of attack against run, and provided pressure off edge several times, but with no one in Stafford's face he was able to easily step up to avoid Mack.
Mingo was fine, I guess, filling in for Quinn. Vaughters made the one big play to stuff Johnson behind the line in the 4th. Edge rusher depth a concern, as we expected. Health of Mack/Quinn vital this year.
Trevathan looked old. Maybe it was just rust. Maybe he just tweaked something. I hope so. Because the Lions were exploiting him in pass coverage and I didn't see much from him in the run game either. It even looked like Stafford pulled away from him on one of his scrambles.
Big early run stuff by Smith. Didn't flash again rest of the game. I didn't notice any errors though, so my guess is he was fine against run overall. Was better than Trevathan in coverage, but wouldn't say he was good. Got caught reacting late to several play fakes opening space.
Hell of a first game by Jaylon. Lions tested him short and deep but he was up to the task. Sure, he got trucked once and I noticed one poor run fit, but considering how little he's practiced some hiccups there in his NFL debut are no big deal. Another potential great pick by Pace
Fuller and Skrine looked like they picked up just where they were last year. Which is just fine.
I didn't notice Gipson. Which can be a goo thing for a safety. Same kind of goes for EJack. I do remember one nice pass break up from him and the Lions never beat the D over the top, so my first impression is the safeties played fine.
Which brings me to Mitch Trubisky.
First, the positives: Came up big in the clutch. The early adversity didn't get to him and he kept his head in the game. Threw strikes and used his legs to create chunk plays. The 4th quarter was an excellent example of his tools on display.
The neutral: Outside of Miller's one handed grab, his WRs didn't help him much. No contested catches converted. DET was lost their best LB and all 3 starting CBs by end of game, so there are caveats attached to 4th QTR production, but still deserves credit for pulling comeback.
The bad: The inaccuracy. Several horrible misses (over middle to Ginn on 3rd and long, misses to Harris/Kmet in EZ, miss to ARob down sideline). Those left early points on the field that could have prohibited the need for comeback. Footwork on many throws still an issue.
In all, I feel like this is a step in the right direction for Trubisky. The win should boost his confidence. But most importantly, his decision making was improved. There were no bone headed throws into triple coverage. He looked fully healthy and able to contribute as a runner.
We obviously need to see more, against better competition. His footwork is still a huge concern. Maybe additional no huddle can help bring out a little more of the creativiy we saw during the comeback. An improved running game obviously gives him a crutch he didn't have as well.
