Regarding the 2020-21 #AHL season: I have been told that teams would need roughly eight weeks (from the time that it is decided to proceed with a season) of lead time to prepare. A lot of teams have furloughed front-office staff or would need to hire new staff.

One factor is that there will need to be a sense that there is a reasonably clear road ahead in terms of COVID-19 cases. You wouldn't want to ramp back up only to have to pull the plug again quickly thereafter.

With governments in two countries, plus a multitude of provinces, states, and cities, there is clearly a lot to sort through.
