Welcome to the Super Mario Coin Thread! I will rank every single coin design in chronological order, includes every generic coin design and special coins. I'll start off with the mainline and then the spinoffs. If I'm slow, It means I'm busy. Yes, EVERY COIN. Every Mario game.
Mario Bros. (1983) The very first coin in the entire series. It's simple, clean, and collecting them gives you 800 points each and in the bonus games, lives if you collect them all. Great coin, 8/10.
Wrecking Crew/Wrecking Crew Vs. (1985) Pretty forgettable coin, only appears in the bonus games. Really Nothing special to say about this coun. 5/10
Super Mario Bros./Lost Levels (1985)/(1986) The classic, you've all seen this coin before. Simple, iconic, and gives you a life after gaining 100. Overall, super solid coin. 8/10.
Super Mario Bros. 2/USA (1988)/(1992) Awesome coin! You can only obtain them through using a magical potion and going in the door into Subspace. These coins lets you play the bonus games for extra lives, super useful. Too bad they're ONLY obtainable in Subspace. 8/10.
Super Mario Land (1989) Meh. Its a coin alright. Collect 100 for a life. Pretty boring design, mostly from the Game Boy's limitations. But they're plentyful. 6/10.
Super Mario Bros. 3 (1990) Great coin. This game introduces Switch Blocks which turns blocks into coins. The design once again is simple and clean, it also introduces blue coins which are just as beautiful. Overall, huge improvement from the previous games. Both types get 9/10.
Super Mario World (1991) IMO, super underwhelming coin. The design is pretty basic and not as good looking as in Smb3. It's still decent, but not as useful as the previous coins. This game also introduces Gray Coins which gives you points instead. Not bad, but not great. 6/10.
(Continued) The Dragon Coin appears in every level in Super Mario World. Collecting them all in each level rewards a 1-up. Design is simply exquisite, catches your eye and lures you in. You know you want that Dragon Coin. You wanna collect them all, don't you? 10/10.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992) Lame looking coin, but you can actually spend them on power-ups and extra lives in a minigame. They're also plenty of them in each level. Where it lacks in design, makes up in functionality. 7/10.
(Continued) HOW COULD I NOT FORGET ABOUT THE 6 GOLDEN COINS? Well, they're required to beat the game and they have cool designs on them, I won't rank them individually, because they operate the exact same. But regardless, great coins. 8/10. Nothing else to say about them.
Super Mario 64 (1996) Great design and extremely useful. The star in the center makes them standout and very clean looking. Collecting 50 coins not only grants you an extra life, but 100 grants you a Power Star, the main collectable. Overall, one of the best coins. 9/10.
(Continued) Blue coins are just as good as a normal coin. Worth 5 coins and hitting the ground pound switch, they appear in groups, helping with 100 coin star missions. It gets the same score at the normal coin, 9/10. Only negative is that they can be tricky to obtain sometimes.
(Continued) Red coins are awesome coins as well. Levels that contain these have 8 in total. Collecting them gives you 2 coins, but collecting them all grants a Power Star. Just a great coin, nothing bad to say about it. Mario 64 just has great coins man...... 9/10.
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (1999) The enhanced port of SMB1 includes Red Coins in the Challenge Mode of the game. They help unlock extra goodies and medals. They have a basic design, but they're awesome since they encourage replayability. Overall, great coin, 8/10.
Super Mario Advance (2001) Introduces the Ace Coin, there are 100 in total and 5 in each level. Nothing too special, but is great for completionists. Nothing else to say, 7/10.
Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 (2002) Peach Coins are obtainable after collecting every Dragon Coin in the game. They just serve the same purpose, collect them all for cool ending. Plus, less attractive, smh. 6/10.
Super Mario Sunshine (2002) Ugly ass coin, straight up trash, nobody loves it. Not fun to collect and unsatisfying. Also includes 100 coin shine missions which are just UGHHHHHH. 4/10. Worst Mario Coin.
(Continued) Red coins will catch some slack, they operate the exact same as 64 and some of the missions ain't that bad. Plus I like how they look actually, has a neat design. Solid coin imo 8/10, however, the next coin..........
(Continued) FUCK YOU FUCK YOU I HATE YOU WORST FUCKING COIN EVER OH MY GOD, FUCK YOU AND THOSE TANUKI ASSHOLES AARRGHHHHHHHHH -100/10. Moving on.
New Super Mario Bros. (2006) This game kickstarted the iconic modern coin design most people seen. Despite the DS limitations, it's a fine looking coin, not much to say about it, Operates like any other 2d mario game. 8/10.
(Continued) Star Coins made their debut in this game. Every level has 3 total and collecting them helps unlock new paths and item houses. The design is also really nice, helps seperate then from the normal coins. Also great for completionists. 9/10.
(continued) Red coins are obtainable by passing through a red ring, you have a limited amount of time to grab all 8 and you'll be rewarded with a power-up or 1-up. Uses similar design as the normal coin, but overall, a very solid coin. 8/10.
Super Mario Galaxy (2007) Probably the least used coin in the series. It's a pretty standard looking coin, but it still looks nice. They help refill health, and thats it. Collecting 50 grants a life, but that rarely happens. You might as well just collect star bits. 5/10.
(continued) The ? Coin is uh, hard to rank. It depends on the situation and it causes miscellaneous effects. You might get star bits, coins, etc. The design is also pretty basic. I'll give it a ???/10.
(continued) Galaxy introduces the Purple Coins. These are mostly mission based and require you to collect 100 purple coins in certain conditions. The design is very nice and reminiscent of the coins from mario 64. Solid coin, 8/10.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2009) This game has a more refined design of the coin and became standard in the Mario series afterwards. It's a good coin. I really can't say much about it since like any other 2d mario game, it does the same thing. 8/10.
(Continued) Hidden Coins are little assholes if youre trying to beat it without collecting a single coin. But hey, it's just more coins. 7/10. Nothing else to say.
(Continued) My thoughts on Red Coins are the exact same as NSMB DS. Star Coins however, taking a point away simply because they're useless unless you want the final world. So NSMB Wii Star Coins get an 8/10.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010) Muuuch more common than Galaxy 1. Actually useful for buying extra lives in the dice minigame and can feed hungry lumas for secret objectives. They look the same, but they have a much better purpose now. Solid 8/10.
(Continued) BIG COIN 10/10
(Continued) Comet Medals aren't exactly coins, but I'll include them. Cool collectables that allow for more challenges are are fun to find sometimes. I like them, 7/10. I gave it this score only because they aren't coins, but its kinda similar in some ways.
Super Mario 3D Land (2011) Pretty average coins, similar to the previous games, nothing crazy at all. Game introduces Yellow Rings which gives you 5 coins. But were ranking coins themselves, so it's a solid 7/10. Nothing special.
(Continued) Star Metals, like Comet Medals, aren't coins, but they're similar. Each level has 3 in total, mystery houses contain only 1. They help unlock levels annnnddddd thats it. Good "coin", I'll give it a 7/10.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 (2012) THEYRE FUCKING EVERYWHERE, EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK THERES A COIN, GOLD COIN BRICKS, GOLD FLOWER THAT TURNS STUFF TO COINS, GOLD ENEMIES, ITS FUCKING NUTS!!! INSTANT 10/10!!!
(Continued) 10 AND BIGGGG 100 COIN AJHDJEJEKDJDJSJSJSB YES PLEASEEEEEEEE YESSSSSS 10/10
YESSSSSSSSS MORE COINS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 10 10 10 10 10 10 COINS WOOOOOOOOO ITS FUCKING COINS LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
COIIIINNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSS
ok im calm now, ill finish the mainline stuff later
New Super Mario Bros. U (2012) Its the exact same as NSMB Wii, what am I supposed to say about these coins? This includes the other coins as well. But U introduces green coins. It's a glorified red coin, 6/10, nice job being original nintendo.
Super Mario 3D World (2013) We now obtained true HD coins and they're glorious. The shine, the texture, sooo cleannnn. Its just a beautiful coin man. Theres also many ways to collect them like slots and the coin express. But they truly get points for HD. 9/10.
(Continued) Green coins return, but they actually give you Green Stars, which are needed to beat the game. Major improvement from U already lmfao. 7/10. Gonna mention coin stacks real quick, its coins in a pile, they go hard 😳 8/10.
(Continued) WE AINT DONE! THE COIN STAMPS BABY! THERES 2 OF THEM AND THEYRE AMAZING. BEAUTIFUL ARTWORK OF THE HOLY GOD, COIN. 9/10. also red coins are cool i guess, 7/10.
Super Mario Maker/3DS (2015) (2016) All the scores of SMB1, 3, World go up by 1, because they in HD now, but U goes down because it used pre-rendered coins smhhhhh. Maker also introduces pink coins which are rad. Collect them all for a key, thats awesome!!! 8/10.
Super Mario Run (2016) You can now spend coins on items to decorate your small Mushroom Kingdom, and this game throws a lot at you if your playing modes like Remix 10 or Toad Rally. A mobile game has better use of coins than the console games. And its mainline. 8/10.
(Continued) The game also has 3 special types of star coins, Purple, Pink, and Black. They help unlock new challenges in World Tour Mode. You can also unlock special pipes in Kingdom Builder to play extra levels. Designs are clean and simple, also satisfying to collect. 8/10.
(continued) Gonna add the bonus medals that are obtained in Remix 10 real quick. They're neat, they help unlock rare items in Kingdom Builder and uh thats about it. 7/10.
New Day, More Coins, Ending off the mainline with Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Maker 2!
Super Mario Odyssey (2017) THE DETAILLLLLL, THE DETAILLLLLL!!!!
Best looking coin so far. You can also spend these coins for costumes, moons, and souvenirs. Amazing coin, everything about it is near perfect. Honestly, a 10/10. Best looking coin and best use of coin.
(continued) Gonna make this section a little bit special, I will rank every regional coin based on looks and what they can buy. And I will list them from worst to best at the end.
Bonneton Coin: Very classy look, hat design compliments the area you explore. Around 50 in the level, and you can buy a frog plush and a sexy black suit. Overall just very classy in general. 8/10.
Fossil Falls Coin: Its a big stone wheel, leaves a bit more to desire. I wish it was more than just a wheel, not terrible, but its probably the weakest looking one in my opinion. Theres 50 of them and you can buy a neat caveman outfit and a t-rex statue. 6/10.
Tostarena Coin: Great design, based off the upside down pyramid in the level and looks very nice. 100 in total in the level and you can buy a model of the pyramid as well as a mexican attire and a cowboy outfit. Top tier coin, probably the best one. 10/10.
Lake Lamode Coin: Gorgeous design, the scale texture is based off the lochladies and it represents the area so well. 50 in the level and you can buy a underwater dome, a swimsuit, and a rubber dorrie. Gotta give it a 9/10. Very impressive coin.
Steam Gardens Coin: Its a cool coin, nothing too crazy, but it fits the area well, with it being mechanical and all. 100 in the level and you can buy a explorers outfit, a scientist outfit, a steam gardener can, and flowers. Not a bad coin, but could be better, 7/10.
Forgotten Isle Coin: Love the look of the coin, very organic looking and fits the feeling of the isle. 50 in total, you can buy a aviator outfit, a potted tree and a butterfly mobile. Pretty lame souvenirs, but cool coin design. 6/10, just because the souviners kinda blow.
New Donk City Coin: My favorite design, represents the entire city and Pauline herself being the mayor. 100 in total, you can buy the NES golf outfit, the Mario Maker Outfit, a Pauline statue and a Skyscraper statue. Phenominal coin, 10/10. Design is just really good.
Shiveria Coin: Very pretty coin, design is pretty sharp as well, big fan of it. I would've like some more originality, but it works. 50 in total, you can buy a snow outfit, a rug, and russian shiverian dolls. Pretty solid lineup of souvenirs. 8/10.
Bubblaine Coin: Pretty basic seashell design, but its not bad at all, just a little generic. A cork would've been cooler to fit the carbonated water feel. 100 in total and you can buy a resort outfit, sand jar, and a glass tower. Its alright. 7/10.
Mt. Volbano Coin: I really like the polygonal look of the coin, and it blends in very well with the environment. There are 100 in total and you can but a chef outfit, a painter outfit, souvenir forks, and a vegetable plate (all fake). Overall, not a bad lineup. 8/10.
Bowser's Castle Coin: Based of Koban coins from feudal Japan and they're simply wonderful. Fits with the Japansese-style castle Bowser went with. 100 in total and you can buy a lantern, samurai outfit, a jizo statue, and a happi outfit. Great lineup, 9/10. Good Stuff.
Honeylune Ridge Coin: Its a goddamn star bit from Galaxy. That alone is amazing. 50 in total, and you can buy a replica of the moon, and a moon rock, as well as an astronaut outfit. Bro its a galaxy reference so I gotta give it a 8/10, even though the souvenir list kinda blows.
Peach's Castle Coin: THE KING IS BACK BABY! AMAZING, OUTSTANDING, BLISS IN A CIRCLE. 100 in total, you can buy a Mario 64 outfit, mushroom pillows, a model of peach's castle, and mario themed stickers. 10/10. Good shit man, good shit....
Ranking from Worst to Best:
12. Fossil Falls
11. Forgotten Isle
10. Steam Gardens
9. Bubblaine
8. Shiveria
7. Honeylune Ridge
6. Mt. Volbano
5. Bonneton
4. Lake Lamode
3. Tostarena
2. Peach's Castle
1. New Donk City
awesome coin sticker in odyssey ill give it 8/10, cute coin 🥺
Super Mario Maker 2 (2019) Coins are exactly like Maker 1, but in the story mode, you use them to progress in the story to build peach's castle. Game also introduces 10, 30, and 50 coins. All good boys deserve a solid 8/10. They appeared in other titles as well, speaking of that.
Ladies and Gentlemen, We've reach Spinoff territory, dear god, this means every single spinoff that features a mario character. Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong, etc. This also means other spinoffs like the RPGs and the Kart series.
I'm going to start off with the Mario RPG series, so it includes Mario RPG Lot7S, The Mario & Luigi series, and the Paper Mario games (even though 4 of the games aren't even true RPGs)
Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (1996) Basic coin design, theres 2 types of coins, small ones worth 1, and big ones worth 10. You can hold up to 999. You buy armour and weapons to help in battle, which are expected to be in an RPG. 7/10. Really basic stuff.
(Continued) Frog coins are special currency which are exchanged at Tadpole Lake and Seaside Town. They can buy rare items and are obtained kinda differently from normal coins. Simple design, but it stands out from normal coins. 7/10.
Another day, Another chance to rank more coins!
Paper Mario (2000) These coins like in the SNES game, can but equipment and more and are common throughout the game. Design is basic, nothing else to say. 7/10. good boy coin.
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (2003) Theres two coins in this game, Mushroom coins, and BeanBean coins. Its honestly the exact same, but this game loves to throw currency exchange jokes at you. Design is a standard coin design. Also you can hit Luigi's balls for them. 8/10.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (2004) Its the exact same as Paper Mario 64. So, its getting the same score. 7/10. I feel bad for this game so I will add the Pianta Tokens in the next part of the thread.
(Continued) Pianta Tokens are used in the Pianta Parlor in Rogueport for special goodies. Earned by playing slots and playing the Paper minigames. Design is very menacing for no reason and they're kinda tedious to collect. Not the most ideal coin. 6/10.
(continued) Gonna add the big ass coin from the intro of every chapter. Bro it got Bowser on it, gotta give it a 9/10. Its the Bowser Coin. Screw Mario, Peach, and the X-Nauts. ITS THE BOWSER COIN.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (2005) Coins are back the same as ever, but this game introduces larger yellow coins and blue coins. Theyre usually in hard to reach areas. Eh, theyre alright. I'll give them a 7/10. Same score for the normal coin.
Super Paper Mario (2007) Uses almost the same design from TTYD. You can buy items and Tiptron, a rare pixel. Also getting a Happy Flower will shower you with coins to collect. Also, apparently coins in the series were made by a Sammer Guy, so thats uh, interesting. 7/10.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (2009) Collect Coin. Buy stuff. Good coin design. Play minigames for coins. What else can I say about the coins here. The 10, 20, 50, and 100 coins return. Yeah, nothing special to say here. 7/10. (sorry for shit photo)
I always ask myself, why do i do this? welp, coin time
Paper Mario: Sticker Star (2012) This game embraces the paper aesthetic and everything is made out of paper, including the coins. Great designed coins, nice cardboard feel to it. You buy stuff with them and brings along the 10,50, and 100 coin. Great stuff, 8/10. Not the game tho
Mario And Luigi: Dream Team (2013) Surprise, its just like the older titles, nothing has changed at all. Battle for coins, win coins in minigames, and spend coins. Design is pretty standard. Also why is it so hard to obtain photos of this stuff? 7/10.
(continued) Remember that stone you spent the entire game chasing? It gets turned into the Dream Coin. Once shattered, thousands of coins come falling down and its just a miracle. Gotta give it a 10/10. The ideal coin. The Zeekeeper loves coins just as much as I do.
Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam (2016)
Literally the exact same as Dream Team. Gonna add the remakes for Superstar Saga (2017) and Bowser's Inside Story (2019) too, since theyre exactly all the same. They all get 7/10. Man, the RPG coins ain't that special 😔.
Paper Mario: Color Splash (2016) This game follows the same aesthetic from Sticker Star, but they in HD now, and much bigger. Same function as Sticker Star, you buy stuff, but coins here are MUCH more common, straight up broken sometimes. Hard to run out, 9/10. awesome coin!
(Continued) G I A N T COIN 10/10
Paper Mario: The Origami King (2020) Smaller than the previous games, but same aesthetic. Much more use than the other games. Buying weapons, accessories, time in battle, and for bribing toads. The game throws a lot at you. But going for 100%, you will spend a lot of them. 9/10.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle (2017) My dumbass forgot about this. Theres normal coins, blue and red coins. Blue coins are obtained in bonus rooms and you can nab special items. Red coins do the same in the overworld. Guess what normal coins do lmfao. Design is clean too. 8/10.
Mario Sports games are fun!!!!! Time to do those 😃
Happy 3D-All Stars day! Time for more coins!!!
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (2003) They take their apperance from Mario 64 and used for Coin Attack in where you must obtain as much as you can before hitting a par or below. Since its the Mario 64 coin design, gotta give it a 8/10.
*Its actually Coin Shoot, not Coin Attack
Mario Superstar Baseball (2005) / Super Mario Sluggers (2008) Plays a role in challenge mode and the Toy Field mode. You buy items and unlock events in challenge mode. You need them to win in Toy Field. Basic coin design, nothing too crazy at all. 7/10. Fine coin.
Mario Hoops: 3-on-3 (2006) Obtained by going on a ? Panel and they help increase your score when you make a basket. You can also rub with the stylus before a slam dunk, but its super risky. Great coin that rewards skill and risk. 9/10.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (2008) Appears in Dream Canoe in the DS version. You must collect as many as possible while battling other players. In a way, similar to coin runners in Mario Kart. Nothing else to say, 7/10.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (2009) Appears in the Deluxe Halfpipe event in the DS version. Collecting coins help increase your score and perform special tricks. Generic coin, 7/10.
coins time baby
(continued) In the Wii version of Dream Ski Cross, coins appear in the mode. They give you a special move once you collect 5 that makes you move faster. Pretty standard stuff, 7/10.
(continued) WHO FUCKING SAID YOU CAN COME BACK, WHO ASKED FOR YOU???? NOBODY WANTED YOUR UGLY ASS BACK! GTFO GTFO GTFO! Im not even gonna rank it, it doesnt deserve it.
Mario Sports Mix (2011) Used in every mode of the game. They help increase your score when you eventually score. Dodgeball coins increases your power though. Great coin, design is common among mario games too. 8/10.
fuckkkkkk, i was playing all stars yesterday and forgot to update this 😐 back to it i guess
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (2011) Appears in the Dream Rafting event. Coins appear in the river players can collect to help their scores. Design is standard and nothing special. 7/10. yeah i got nothing, its just standard coins.
Mario Tennis Open (2012) Awarded for playing special minigames. Galaxy Rally and Super Mario Tennis are the games you can earn coins in to help buy tennis equipment. Like the other sports games, standard design and simple use. 7/10. coins go weeeeeeee
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games (2013) Appears in Dream Snowboard Cross. Coins can be collected to help increase speed??? like in Mario Kart. wow look at that, a coin. 7/10. I couldnt tell.
(continued) They also appear in the Dream Street Hockey event. They appear on the Coin Street course and collecting 8 spawns a bonus goal for your team. Wow, its a coin, could you tell? 6/10. Pretty boring use.
Sorry about no coins yesterday, was very busy. Welp, back to it!
Mario Golf: World Tour (2014) Normal coins return from Toadstool Tour with added challenge modes. Coins appear in designs to help collect then easier and sometimes helps you gain an advantage. Coins used for buying clothings and other golf equpiment. Great coin, 8/10.
Mario Tennis Ultra Smash (2015) Coins are used as currency to unlock achievements early, upgrade amiibo and buy courts. Thats it. You dont even see the coins themselves. Fuckin disrespectful, 3/10. Just like this game.
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (2016) Coins are used as currency alongside Rings to buy special items and rewards from the item stands. They can contain music, clothing, stamps, etc. Lakitu can also reward players coins as well. Overall, Great use of coins. 9/10.
Oops. Messed up the World Tour section. The thread put the star and moon coins in the wrong section. To summarize, good coins that add replay value and challenge. Hard to collect as well. 8/10. Very good coins.
I swear to god, I never forgot about this. Im getting back into it right now, its coin time!
Mario Sports Superstars (2017) I never played this game at all. I guess you buy stuff after winning events n shit. Who cares about this game bro, maybe Ill try it when its extremely cheap. Coin is basic, it gets a 6/10.
Mario Tennis Aces (2018) Coins appear in the Swing Mode minigames, Boo Hunt and Shy Guy Train Tussle. They are used to earn points for special costumes. They really dont serve much of a purpose outside of that, and the design is standard. 7/10.
Apparently, DDR Mario Mix is considered a Sport game, so ill include it in the next post.
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix (2005) Coins are earned after completing dancing challenges and can be earned from the Coin Switch which turns arrows into coins to collect. Used to buy items and other stuff to progress in the game. This game also uses the 64 design, 8/10.
The Mario Sports series is over, now I will be moving onto the Mario Party series, this should be interesting....
I'll be doing Mario Party differently. Since the games usually have the same core mechanics with exceptions, I'll be going over what coins appear in and what they offer and do in each game. So this might take awhile to finish.
Mario Party (1999) The first Mario Party introduces many staples. Such as, earning coins on blue spaces, losing coins on red spaces, Event spaces in where you either gain coins or lose coins, buy items with coins, and winning coins in minigames. The coin design is based on 64.
(Continued)The Mini-Game House offers a variety of options for using your coins. The Mushroom Shop lets you purchase unique board items such as Plus Blocks and Event Blocks. You can also buy minigames as well as store coins in the bank. You can even purchase special boards.
(Continued) Coin Minigames appear in this game. Whack-A-Plant is an example of a minigame where you can earn ridiculous amounts of coins. These are extremely useful for when you're behind or can help purchase more items or stars.
(Continued) They also appear in Mini-Game Island as a way to gain extra lives if you unfortunately lose in some minigames. Collecting 100 gains an extra life.
Overall, Mario Party 1 has great use of the coins. You can purchase many things and they help you gain advantages in certain ways. Not a bad coin in the slightest, easily a 9/10.
Mario Party 2 (2000) This game introduces collectable items in shops to help players gain an advantage during gameplay. They can range from Mushrooms, Skeleton Keys, and Magic Lamps. This game also includes the Hidden Block, which can contain coins or a star.
Coin Time once again baby!!!!!!!!!!!
(continued) Woody first appears in this game and you go to him to buy minigames with the coins you earned. Coin Minigames also reappear from MP1. Overall, a bit weaker use of coins compared to 1 which offered much more variety besides collectable items. 7/10. Also same design.
Mario Party 3 (2001) Just like MP2, Items are back to buy, but you can no longer buy minigames, you have to unlock them through normal play. Duel Mode makes a 1st time apperance and you use coins to keep your partner with you by paying a fee. If you can't pay the fee, they leave.
I'll never forget and I will finish this thread before I die. Coin Time baby!!!!!!
