Some photographers trying to say they carry the burden bc they buy fancy equipment or spend a lot of time editing. Y’all are totally missing the point. Yeah, it takes you 2+ hours to edit a shoot. It only took the model the duration of the shoot itself, right? Wrong! (Thread) https://twitter.com/eswiftstudios/status/1305307265189249025
How many hours went into the models well-managed diet? How about the skin routine? Oh, you want a model who has a 1/100 body-type? Their day is centered around the gym/their appearance. That’s more than the two hours it took you to edit.
What about their makeup? Their hair? Did you pay for those products? Did you hire someone to do the makeup/hair on the model? If not, add another few hours to the duration of the shoot please.
And styling. If you didn’t style the model (and I don’t mean give them a recommendation of what to wear, I mean go out and buy those clothes), then add the cost of the items, the time shopping and curating the look that the model had to do.
How many of your models stand there like a mannequin until you pose them? I doubt many of them do. Add in the time of their experience and knowledge to adapt to different scenes, concepts, lighting, etc to give you JUST what you’re hoping for when you can’t articulate it yourself
I could go on and on.
Any photographer who thinks they deserve more credit than the models they work with, lemme know it the replies so I can unfollow.
If it takes a team, it takes a team, and all participants are equally essential. Get over yourself
And to be clear- this is not me suggesting that models do *more* than photographers. I’m pushing back at the narrative that all models need to do is show up. Creatives need to understand not only what our roles are, but also what our creative counterparts roles are
