So Commissioner Barker was given air time on @CBCEarlyEdition this morning. None of her stated "facts" about "restricted access" to Stanley Park were challenged, no counterpoint (from, say, Dave Demers, @Lucyincanada, or HUB) was provided. As such, the misinformation spreads...
There's been no reduction in handicap parking. There has been parking reduction, but there has also been reduced demand. Parking lots are not full, even at the height of summer. People using the park on bike has *exploded*
No discussion was has about the health benefits of this use, COVID or otherwise. No mention of climate emergency. Commissioner Barker said people wanted the seawall back open but wasn't questioned why that required 2 lanes of traffic.
Disappointed.
She expressed her concern over the survey that asks "How do you like the separated lane?" saying that clearly indicated a bias to keeping the lane. What else should a survey about the changes ask?
"We changed this! What do you think?"
Ugh.
"We changed this! What do you think?"
Ugh.
Loss of accessible spaces? @CBCEarlyEdition here are the facts. Why wasn't Commissioner Barker challenged on this? https://twitter.com/martynschmoll/status/1294724884703014912?s=19
This shows 2 spots lost. In a parking lot that isn't open to *anyone* right now. Is this such a significant loss that the whole thing should be tossed out?
