dear white people who are “discovering” BIPOC ancestral traditions,

this shit is for US. i get it that ancestral wisdom and indigenous religions work. we know. our people were doing it before your people colonized us. 🙃
so now that you've taken the Orisha dance class and visited the shaman in Peru, how are you eradicating racism and anti-Blackness? you caint just come up in these sacred spaces, take what fills you up, and drop your responsibility. i REFUSE to let y'all gentrify ancestral wisdom.
even when white people are spiritual but not religious, there is still a social disconnect if your spirituality isn't intersectional. it doesn't matter how "mystical" you are if you don't honor your horrid lineage and the residual effects that still exist from that harm.
"for white people, repenting for the horrific acts committed by your ancestors, IS the spiritual practice."

-Dr. Briana Boyd
before you don ankara headwraps and baby slings, put on remorse and regret. before you open your mouth to say "aśe," say "i'm sorry." before you go into another trance, go into protest against capitalism.
go into the hedges and highways of your dining rooms and these red states and preach the gospel of liberation. after all, Christianity was an African religion that got coopted and white washed by your european ancestors.
you are foolish to think that you are not responsible just because, "you weren't alive during slavery," yet slavery is still alive in you.
white racism is a white problem and y'all need a white solution. this is NOT my problem; even (especially!) in spiritual spaces. i am here to oversee you dismantle this shit...not do it for you.

as for me and my house, we gon' be decolonizing Christianity over on my patreon ( http://patreon.com/lyvonnep ) so come join us! and, if you're ready for a deep dive, book an intro coaching call so we can get you to a spirituality that is liberative...not performative.
the collective needs healing, yes...but that won't come before you heal your lineage.
